The rooms have an amazing private Onsen on a nice terrace but there is also a public one (divided between man and woman).
Breakfast and dinner are amazing and the give you free drinks and snacks after dinner.

The property was cosy. I liked the shared common area around the fire. My room had a lovely balcony overlooking Hakone. My bed was comfortable.

The view of Mt Fuji from our Japanese Wester-Style room with Mt Fuji view was incredible and a highlight of a trip along with the Onsen, first thing in the morning and last thing at night, amazing. The hotel has a short walk to the ropeway, walk out the front doors then walk around the building to your right, you will find a little path that takes you to a side door of the ropeway. A must is the Hakone pass!

The food and the service was amazing, in both restaurants. They have a shuttle to the main port of the lake and back every 20 minutes from 9am to 5pm. Great view on the lake. If you are lucky and you have western breakfast outsite you can see the Fuji while eating. Overall the whole service was great.

Room i had was on the 1st floor and yes it is cozy but clean and ok. And if you're on the 1st floor, there is a toilet up there. Hotel is well located, near the start of Tokaido old road (just 100 metres past Eneos gas station). And 10 minutes from Hakone shrine. I walked from Hakone Jinja Iriguchi bus stop, up the hill, passing Lawsons - took 5 minutes. Good food at reasonable prices, served til 8pm i think. Free water, tea and coffee. Towel, soaps etc provided.
The attention to detail was amazing. We were also given a lift to the hakone shrine which was amazing. My friend left something in the van, we had no phone number to contact the hostel so my friend walked back and they kindly gave him another lift to the shrine.
Amazing stay!!! The location is amazing, right on Lake Ashi - a short walk to the iconic tori gate and Hakone shrine as well as a beautiful view of Mount Fuji! It's also right next to a bus station and the sightseeing ship.
I liked the deluxe room as we got our own bathroom, wifi and it was a larger room. It was super comfy and clean.
Also right next to a Lawson and plenty of lunch and dinner options around.
There is a bus stop right at the bottom of the hill that brings you to the Hakone Shrine. The neighbourhood is quiet and pleasant to walk around. The room is capsule style with a futon, which is on the thinner side. Onsen, with a shower right by, can be used for free, with a limit of 20 mins.
Good location - it’s just a few minutes walk to take the pirate ship and to the famous Hakone Shrine. There are lots of restaurants nearby and a supermarket is just 2-3 minutes away. Though a little bit exhausted to walk up the slope with luggage when we first arrived the hotel.
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel de Yama. The location was a huge plus for me, as I was interested in visiting the Hakone Shrine and Torii gate before it got too crowded. The service was great, the staff were lovely and friendly, and I loved the view of the garden and lake from my room and the hotel's public onsen.

Fantastic location right near Lake Ashi. Stayed here for this very reason: so we could walk to Heiwa no Torii & Hakone Shrine before breakfast (& the crowds). Saw snow capped Mt Fuji from the shores there, too. Friendly vibe at the accommodation. We had the breakfast deal which was filling & delicious. Ordered curry for dinner as well & paid at bar. Great fireplace & lounge to relax. Close to a convenience store to purchase extra snacks.
The accommodation is exactly like in the pictures, not super nice but just what we needed to explore Hakone for a day. The main reason we booked this apartment is cause it's located very near the Hakone Shrine with the Tori gate on the lake. We woke up early and were able to see the Tori gate without queuing.
the location very near Lake Ashi and Hakone Shrine, so was a lovely walk around Lake Ashi, beautiful scenery. The 7-11 was great too, with good stock of beers and bread. And do take a walk to the Park, and walk to pavillon to see Mount Fuji.
