This hotel lives up to its name. It is truly grand. The location was excellent -- EXIT 8 and it even has its own access from the basement on the underground walkway to Sapporo station or Odori Park station. We took the JR Airport Rapid train from New Chitose Airport to Sapporo station which is huge. Keep walking undergound for 10 minutes and look for BIG LETTERS EIXT 8 on the right hand side. There will be another Exit 8 in small letters within 5 minutes walk -- DO NOT TAKE THIS. Anyway, the hotel room I stayed in was the annex which was fine because it is directly in the same side as the breakfast buffet at the Northern Terrace Restaurant. And wow! The buffet was awesome! There were so many choices, even soft serve ice cream. The room was slightly larger than most Japanese hotels but I enjoyed the fast wifi and free cleaning every day and large bath tub. Of course the hotel was clean everywhere, even in the lobby toilets. Did I say there is a Starbucks inside this hotel yet? And AKARENGA building/government office is one block away. Also the hotel is within 2 blocks of Odori Park and the Sapporo TV station tower -- walk out the Northern Terrace buffet restaurant and Starbucks Cafe on the ground floor and turn right.

The breakfast was really really good, and the location is super convenient. The bottom floor of the hotel directly connects to the poletown mall which has a good selection of food and shopping as well as connections to other malls and two subway stations which connect to most lines, as well as only being two stops from Sapporo station which connects to the JR lines.
