The view!! the location!! the staff! I have never seen a location like this before, it felt raw and authentic yet comfortable and a touch of luxury all at the same time, an unforgettable stay!
We had a room with terrace which was nice because it felt more spacious and had that extra outdoor area to hang up our clothes to dry.
Overlooking the natural pools of Ponza, Hotel Ortensia is set on a hill and is a 10-minute walk from the beach. It features a panoramic terrace and offers rooms with air conditioning.

Our stay here was nothing short of perfect. The location is incredible—just a brief walk from Cala Feola, one of Ponza’s few sandy beaches, which is a true rarity on this rocky island. The nearby Piscine Naturali, known for their stunningly clear waters, offer a beautiful and serene spot for swimming and snorkeling, thanks to their rocky setting and separation from the open sea.
The steps down to Cala Feola add an authentic touch to the experience and are very much in line with Ponza’s natural beauty. While they can be a bit challenging on the way back up, this is entirely expected on an island like Ponza and is more than worth it for the quick beach access. Plus, the route takes you through one of Ponza’s most famous restaurants, renowned for its lasagna with prickly pear leaves—a must-try!
The views from the common terrace overlooking the bay are breathtaking, perfect for relaxing after a day at the beach. What really made our stay exceptional, though, was the warm hospitality. The hosts were incredibly thoughtful, picking us up from the port, purchasing our ferry tickets during a weather alert, and even driving us to town when they saw us heading for the bus.
On our last day, after checking out, we were given access to a private bathroom and shower, as well as a storage area for our luggage. This allowed us to make the most of our final hours on the island, with no rush and full enjoyment of the beach.
Overall, the accommodation offers an excellent price-quality ratio, combining comfort, convenience, and a true Ponza experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting this beautiful island.
