FAQs about hotels in Sanur

Setting the Standard

Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.

Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.

The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.

Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.

Sanur is the closest beach to the island’s capital, Denpasar, with its many temples and museums. Booking.com has a range of hotels along Sanur Beach or close to Ngurah International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport.

Unfortunately, our flight from Perth was cancelled so we lost 2 days/nights of our holiday but the trip was perfect besides that. The Hyatt also kindly refunded one night which they were not obliged to do but we thought was a very fair compromise. Easy to get around usually, but on this trip, the traffic outside of hotel was mental due to the grand opening of the new Bali Icon Shopping Mall just up the street and the hotel road was randomly closed at various times - which was a pain. Avoid Indonesian school holidays - the traffic is 10X worse according to drivers. We ate a lot in the hotel for convenience - family group of 16 with ages ranging from 2-62 so it worked well for us and everyone was happy. Pool is fantastic and again, ticked everyone's boxes. We had plenty of spa treatments outside of the hotel, but my favorite hands down was in the hotel spa - outstanding.

We loved how quiet it was here - shop keepers don't hassle you to look in their shops, they're happy for you to wander in if you want to. Food is affordable but not super cheap. Beach is quiet - no annoying sales people or endless jetskis or speed boats. No waves though so you can't surf.

    Sanur beach isn’t that nice.

Sanur beach isn’t that nice. Brownish sand and I inviting water. Most of the restaurants along the beach feel a bit like tourist traps and there are lots of stall vendors that sell cheap souvenirs that hassle you as you walk along. Make sure you book a decent resort with a nice pool as you’ll need it to escape to for some peace. Despite it being advertised as the quiet option, I found Sanur chaotic, busy and not charming at all.

I love Sanur and will definitely return plus it's a great base to travel from. There's a 6k walkway which is full of resorts, shops and restaurants offering all types of food and drink options from local cheap eats to more expensive dining. You can hire deckchairs, bikes, get a massage, by a sarong plus it suits families and oldies without the noisy party goers. You can catch ferries from the far end, over to the islands. Also the new ICON shopping mall is opening soon, which I'm not sure is good or bad for the locals. The good thing too, walking along the walkway, is that it's mostly under the shade of beautiful trees and with the sea breeze, it's nice and cool.

Sanur was great. Relaxed, a little quieter than Legian. Lots of restaurants, good shopping and the beaches are much nicer. There is a walking track along the beach for runners, walkers and bike riders. You don't get hassled as much on this side of the island. Will definitely come back.

Huge green territory, amazing spa zone, exceptional gym interior. Loved yoga classes and I was alone registered - so I had private session with trainer. Great location - beachfront with calm promenade, hotel provides free bikes so you can go anywhere easily. Cute balinese style and design of facilities. Wonderful breakfast - during 6 nights stay didn’t had capacity to try all they have to offer. Loved Pizzeria restaurant in the resort, they make great pizzas and pasta, live music shows in the evenings.

Location location location! The location of this hotel is perfect because it is within 5 min walks to the Sanur beach with lots of restaurants to choose from. It is also 5 minutes walk to the main street and the famous Massimo Gelato shop. The location still provides very quiet experience because it is still far enough that you wont be hearing any loud clubbing noise from the beach club. Parking is great if you are bringing a car. The Gym equipment was all brand new.

Adi the host was excellent. A smooth transition from the airport to hotel and the unit was spacious and clean. Adi also organised our forward trip to an island with no hesitation & was responsive to messages and special requests. The location was a short walk to the main beach and there were plenty of eateries and shops for general supplies close by. The private pool was also a welcome relief. Very nice Hotel in the centre of Sanur. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is set back from the street in a beautiful garden setting, with a nice sized pool in the middle of the complex. You don't get any street noise, which adds to the peacefulness of the experience. When you leave the property, you are in the heart of the Sanur action, directly across the road from the newly opened Icon Bali, and close to plenty of restaurants and bars.

It's a boutique hotel off a main road and 20 minutes walk from the beach. Despite the road location it was exceptionally quiet and peaceful - so dead easy to travel to/from but you need transport. I liked the walk through the alleyways around the Sanur neighbourhood but some might prefer to be on the beach. Just renovated but kept oldie-worldie character however all clean and fresh. Lovely jogolos for cottage accommodation. Good pool.
