A beautiful, secluded get-away. The outdoor space is wonderful which is what really makes the place. Hosts were very solicitous about making sure we had what we needed.

Stamoulis’ house in Drakia was our sweet home during the second week of August 2023. The house is small but cozy – ideal for 2-3 guests and equipped with everything you may need. It is overhanging the central square of the village just a couple of minutes’ walk from everywhere. The Koutsaridi family are easily the sweetest hosts we have had in a long time – very careful not to be in your way but always there when you need them. Daughters Eleni and Elpida speak excellent English and can give you valuable advice on where to go and what to see in the area.
We chanced upon Drakia and Stamoulis’ house rather spontaneously while exploring Pelion, but it proved an excellent base for driving to the best beaches on the eastern side of the peninsula – Mylopotamos and Plaka (about 1 hour’s drive), as well as visiting beautiful villages like Zagora (ab. 1 hour), Makrinitsa (ab. 1/2 hour), Milies (ab. 1 hour), and of course – the capital Volos (ab. 1/2 hours). Drakia itself is a very pleasant place. A calm but not dormant village huddled in the green folds half-way up the highest slopes (up to 1624 m amsl) of the Pelion mountain it offers much cooler temperatures and great views onto the Pagasetic Gulf. There are two excellent taverns. We recommend Ταβέρνα Μεταξογένη for the food and Μπαλκόνι με Θέα for the scenery.
All in all, Stamoulis’ house comes highly recommended by us, we had the best of times there!
Right on the central square of Portaria with its shading plane trees, lies the hotel and restaurant Kritsa. It offers romantic rooms, a rich traditional breakfast.
