Halifax Hall, hotel in Sheffield

Two miles from the centre of Sheffield, Halifax Hall provides luxurious boutique accommodation in a Victorian mansion setting. Its en suite double rooms all have free Wi-Fi and parking.

Coffee was lovely and the top up stations are great idea, especially with fresh milk. Our room was cosy, spotlessly clean and quiet. Toiletries were sensible (no pile of little bottles) and good quality. Comfortable bed. The staff were very pleasant and nothing was a trouble. Good selection of breakfast choices and tasty.

Sheffield Botanical Gardens

Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens are tucked away behind the comings-and-goings of busy Ecclesall Road. A Grade II English Heritage site, the park’s historic gatehouse and charming glass pavilions are every bit as beautiful as the horticultural varieties that flourish here. See if you can find the bear pit to snap a picture with the statue prowling beneath the lawns.

Very quiet but central to city centre and Eccelshall road where there are cafes, restaurants, pubs, supermarkets. The Botanical gardens are just across the road with glasshouses as well as the cemetery gardens and it’s amazing history. You can walk, cycle or run from Endcliffe park just up the road to the Peak District. We were worried we would miss the TV but there is so much to do in the area you just don’t. The apartment has been beautifully furnished in the period it was built and is very cosy.

Halifax Hall is in a brilliant location (5-10 minutes walk to Sharrow Vale and Ecclesall Road; the Botanical Gardens are just around the corner) and we had a really comfortable stay. The room was impeccable, and we appreciated the Nespresso machine in our room. The top up station for treats, extra teas and coffees and fresh milk was also very welcome. Breakfast was excellent and all the staff were very friendly. It was excellent value for money.

Friendly, efficient and very helpful staff - they made me feel welcome and secure. Decent room - comfy bed/pillows with a decent amount of hanging space for clothes, plus a good shower in the bathroom. Breakfast - again pleasant staff and a good choice of food. Facilities - a comfortable bar, pleasant dining room (although I ate in the bar this time) Location - very close to the Botanical Gardens and the shops/cafes/restaurants on Eccleshall Rd. Not too far out from the city centre.
