This is a beautiful modern hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are relatively large for Europe. The location was convenient and close to some excellent restaurants yet not amid the craziness of the royal mile. The bar on the 7th floor had beautiful views and served food as well as drinks, including caviar!

Market Street hotel is located just outside the Edinburgh train station and just down hill from the royal mile (you do have to climb up steps to get to the royal mile). The street level entrance directs you to the 7th floor lobby. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, big enough to walk around and have a little bistro table and chairs. The free mini bar had a small but varied selection. The room was quiet and had great blackout curtains (a door, actually). I really only slept there but I really enjoyed my brief visit!
Very comfortable, lots of living space for an apartment and it fit all 5 of us perfectly. Quiet neighborhood and not far from the Royal Mile - was about a 6 minute Uber ride. If it had been better weather the yard would be great to use. It was also nice to have the makings for breakfast and snacks provided. Overall a very nice place to reside while visiting Edinburgh.
This is a clean, well kept hotel in a great area! It’s close to the royal mile (10 min walk), Waverley train station (15 min walk), and St. Andrew’s tram stop (20 min walk) while still being located in a quieter area. Beautiful room, friendly staff, and a great breakfast. It was my first time in Edinburgh for the Taylor Swift concert and the hotel was so welcoming. Thank you especially to Carla for manning the eras glitter station! What a fun idea!
The location was perfect - right by Edinburgh Waverly and 2 minutes from the Royal Mile. The facilities were perfect - classic hotel, comfortable beds, spacious rooms with high ceilings and elegantly decorated. Despite it's central location, there was no noise from the surrounding streets, making our stay very peaceful. The dinner we had in the Grand Cafe was great. We would definitely stay at the Scotsman on our next visit to Edinburgh and would recommend it to friends.
Location to Royal Mile could not be better; modern hotel with professional staff (before and upon arrival, very helpful finding economical place to store car while in Edinburgh)~
This hotel is located close to the Royal Mile. You can explore Edinburgh Castle, the grass market, Arthur’sSeat, and more, all within walking distance. Breakfast is very good and available for a good amount of time in the morning. They also offer to store your luggage if needed before or following your check out time. Very helpful and nice.
This is a great hostel in Edinburgh! The location is amazing. It’s right next to the castle and the royal mile. Each bed has a plug and a little shelf to set your phone and stuff while it’s charging overnight. The lockers were a good size. You can fit a whole packed backpack inside. In my room, there was a little sitting area to get ready without being in the way of others. Breakfast was basic, but good. Lots of great amenities.
The property is centrally located on the Royal Mile but was generally quiet due to good soundproofing. The little studio apartment was extremely clean and it was useful to have a washer/dryer machine and a kitchenette with dishwasher. The gym was large and well-equipped for a hotel gym, particularly for weight lifting. There were treadmills and rowing machines.
The location really can’t be beat for visiting Edinburgh. Right in the heart of the Royal Mile. The apartment was clean and well appointed.
It’s a multistory walkup, so be prepared for that. And it may seem strange to pickup the keys at a pizza place, but it totally makes sense once you do it. Just make sure you knock on the door and don’t stand outside waiting for something to happen. Like we did.
The location is extremely central, especially if you're arriving by train. The hotel is just a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley station. It's also a quick and pleasant walk to the Royal Mile. The room was spacious and clean and the staff was very friendly. I will definitely stay again if I'm ever back in Edinburgh.

Walking from the Castle down the Royal Mile to Holyrood House with the new Parliament en route takes some beating in terms not just of historical content but also of ease of travel-it's a straight downhill walk
Walking from the Castle down the Royal Mile to Holyrood House with the new Parliament en route takes some beating in terms not just of historical content but also of ease of travel-it's a straight downhill walk. On the way talk to people-some of the locals actually know a lot about their City and take a pride in it.

Giles on the Royal Mile is several hundreds of years old
St. Giles on the Royal Mile is several hundreds of years old. My family attended a pipe organ recital there one evening. What an awesome and thunderous sound that huge organ made, but could produce the most delicate melodies as well. Highly recommend taking some time to study the beautiful architecture as well as the gorgeous stained glass windows and the history surrounding this or any cathedral, for there is always a history to be known.
