Breakfast was excellent. Room was OK but rather hot for some reason and noisy pipes during the night. Dinner was very good.

The room was clean and well appointed but the location overlooked the side street with the traffic controlled by lights. The opposite side of the corridor, outside, were the kitchen extractors. These were quite noisy but we were assured as well as the traffic that things would quiten down. By midnight this was true. We were able to use the small carpark at the side to unload our luggage and then parked in the town car park. This was free after 6pm until 10am. It suited us fine. Tills up and running and we ordered and had a lovely breakfast.

Great as part of a larger trip, There's a great circular...
Great as part of a larger trip, There's a great circular walk to take in the castle, gorge and church and DEFINITELY worth a stop at the Castle Inn pub as the food is excellent. The castle itself is farely simple in structure and doesnt take 10 minutes to explore.

The location was excellent. I chose Lydford because I knew it would be easy to access all the Dartmoor walks I had planned. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that it has its own attractions: Lydford Castle, Lydford Gorge, the White Lady, etc. All the staff at the Castle Inn really understand what good customer service means; I was treated very well by everyone. The food was also of a very high standard, indeed.
