The 4-star Lydford Country House is set amongst 8 acres of grounds within Dartmoor National Park. Lydford Gorge is a 15-minute walk away.

Lydford is set in a grand Victorian house, and the magnificent gardens feature quiet terraces and pretty ponds.

Stunningly arranged and decorated, every corner felt loved. The bedding made locally from local wool was delightful, so comfortable and gave the room a soft aroma. Judy, the owner, as well as her husband Jonathan, were the perfect hosts. Attentive and helpful, while still giving the space for privacy. So many details attended to and shared. The breakfast is fresh and made to order with local farm eggs. And the honey is actually from their own property! While still being able to enjoy the country side, Lydford house is within walking distance of a the perfect English pub, The Castle Inn, as well as another restaurant and many different walkabouts and hikes. I loved this place immensely, and look forward to my return. Simply can’t recommend this place enough!

This is what I imagined when I booked. Old building, low ceilings, narrow passages. It has its own charm and atmosphere

Jane is such a nice and lovely host. We really enjoyed our stay with her. The room and bathroom were really spacious and nicely decorated with a love for details. Everything was spotlessly clean. Hot chocolate, tea, coffee, milk and cold water was provided at all times as well as the delicious homemade fudge. The breakfast was great. We would definitely come back. :)

A wonderful place to stay both from perspective of location as well as the accommodation. Beautifully decorated little barn with absolutely everything that is needed. All private as well. Nice enclosed garden that kept our puppy safe and happy. Favourite features were log burner and wooden floor upstairs. Perfectly clean as well and even had luxury bed sheets.

Beautiful room, comfy bed and very clean. Nice and warm with a radiator that was easy to use. Breakfast is included (includes either cereal/toast or a full cooked breakfast from a menu) which was delicious. You also have tea, coffee and homemade biscuits provided in the room, and get given a little bottle of fresh milk in the morning. The restaurant downstairs was really tasty and worth going to - our room was still nice and quiet even though right above it. The Castle Inn is right on a bus stop route as well which is helpful.

Perfect little cosy cottage/ barn. Just right for hiding from the world and gloomy weather but also in a great location for walking and day trips out to various places. The Castle Inn pub down the road was fantastic. Dog friendly and does a great steak. Lydford Gorge is stunning.

Angelina was a great host and made us feel very at home, the furniture was really in keeping of a Devon longhouse that was built in the 1700's. The breakfast was all local produce and was very tasty and she had also taken into account that I am gluten free so thank you very much. We would definitely stay again but would come prepared with some warmer jumpers.
