Location is absolutely fantastic, wish I could stay more and not just one night. Only a short stroll from the Tomaree Mountain, beach right across the road, lots of food outlets and other entertainment. Resort facilities are excellent, with 2 pools and 3 spas readily available. Staff super helpful, accommodating, and absolutely lovely.
Oceanside Hawks Nest offers accommodation in Hawks Nest. The hotel has a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, and guests can enjoy a drink at the bar. Free private parking is available on site.

It was very noisy due to the restaurant noises and the patrons leaving the pub.
Just a 5-minute walk from the beach and 2 minutes' walk from the town centre, Hotel Nelson (formerly The Nelson Resort) has a heated swimming pool, fitness centre and a steam room.

We regularly visited Shoal Bay in the 80’s and 90’s for family holidays. We recently returned after many years and love how it hasn’t been overdeveloped but really annoyed by the parking metres. $4.50 per hour to have a coffee or go for a swim or have lunch in a cafe is too expensive. Unfortunately I doubt if we will return

The weather was uncertain but there were opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the bay and the views over Port Stephens. We took advantage of excellent take away from Giannis and mod Thai. The IGA was small but very useful. It was a good location for exploring Nelson Bay, Fingal Bay and Salamander, all worth a visit

Great location across the road from the beach, off street parking and restaurant nearby. Staff were very attentive and friendly and our room had a beach view with lots of dolphins sited from our balcony

Shoal bay has always been a holiday destination for us.
Shoal bay has always been a holiday destination for us. Been many times over the years and it never disappoints. My kids loved it and now the grandkids love the ease of getting to all amenities. The beach is just across the road. Shops within walking distance. Fresh air and wonderful selection is cafes and ice cream shops. The country club is our favourite place to get a great meal. We hired a canoe and paddled out to the beautiful turquoise waters. Can't explain it you have to experience it yourself.

Love the coastal area.
Love the coastal area. Minimal traffic, high rise and not over developed.
Beautiful beaches with blue tranquil water. Definitely Not a surfing beach. White sand .
Seems like a very safe area. Good places to eat. Try the Country Club for a great meal or afternoon cocktails . Also the Atmos Greek Restaurant was very nice. 5 mins drive to Little Bay Boathouse a great restaurant we lived. 10 minutes to the larger town of Nelson Bay if you want to shop, dine, or need anything. Also a wharf there with fresh seafood available.
The location is exceptional; walk to shops, beach, restaurants/cafes. The property was also very easy to find, especially considering we have never been to Shoal Bay before.
Nice view of the bay with only a single row of shops in front/below. We have two toddlers and specifically chose this unit over others with similar facilities because little ones could enjoy the view from the balcony with glass balustrade - it exceeded our expectations with bay views from the lounge room and main bedroom also.
It was an easy walk to little beach and shoal bay.
The yard was nice and secure for my Jack Russell, but the step in and out of the house was a little high.
The kitchen and lounge room were a reasonable size.
Lovely clean, stylishly renovated town house close to the venue for a four day national sporting event. Easy walking distance to all the Shoal Bay amenities and sights.
