Fabulous history and evocative atmosphere. Great vibe in the communal kitchen and dining/lounge area. The historic info and pictures were exceptional and it was wonderful to relive the past in the current day. The owner seemed friendly but I only saw them passing by in their car. I think the solitude added to the sense of adventure.
Just a 4-minute drive from Blue Lake Reserve, Nightcap at Federal Hotel Mt Gambier features an à la carte restaurant and a bar. All rooms offer a TV and a refrigerator.

The Blue Lake is really nice and a good place to visit.
The Blue Lake is really nice and a good place to visit. It is a shame that a location with so many natural beauties has been built up around and in the middle of suburbia. This place would be sooo much better if it was a large protected national park with the town a few kilometers away

The calm deep blue lake is impressive to see from above.
The calm deep blue lake is impressive to see from above. On top of that are the wildlife and vegetation around it. We got to the lake around 7am and we saw a kangaroo hopping pass nearby park and a wallaby hopping around the lake.

This place was cute as hell and in a great location. Fantastic walk to Blue Lake, and easy to get food from town. I booked the Tartan room, and it had this amazing antique bathroom. I did a one-night Winter stay and had a relaxing hot bath whilst a storm raged outside. Loved the whole experience!
The room was a good size and comfortable, the location was great , very central. It was easy to see the sunken gardens and blue lake and head off to PortMacdonel in a 2 night stay.
Room was large and well appointed, bathroom was huge with a great rain-head triple size shower. Hotel is located in the main street in the middle of town. Short drive to blue lake.
Hotel has recently been renovated to a high standard.
We dined in the hotel both nights of our stay and the meals were delicious and well priced.
Everything is perfect, my 5-year-old kid especially loved the apartment.
Will definitely recommend to friends, and I will book here if visiting blue lake next time.
Appreciate the great accommodating from Marg.
The customer service is excellent. The owners are so friendly. It’s a budget hotel but very clean and comfy beds. Close to town and all the main attractions like Blue Lake. We would certainly stay again.
The room was small and compact and very clean. I liked the location as in proximity to Mount Gambier. I also liked the hotel being on top of a hill with very nice views. I could visit Mt Gambier and walked around Blue Lake. The bed was really comfy.
