Quinta da Estrala is enthusiastically managed by Tim Wilssens and Saartje Brits. After a successful career in the logistics and human resources sectors, we decided in 2019 to wholeheartedly pursue our dreams. Our shared love for exploring different cultures, delving into fascinating flora and fauna, and embracing a new lifestyle as a couple led us on an incredible journey. Together, we've had the privilege to see the world in a way few people ever will. The adventure began with us opening the doors of our camper and embracing the freedom to follow our hearts, without fixed schedules or pressures. Just us, the open road, and endless possibilities for discovery. It was an intense and beautiful experience! We've explored the wilderness of Africa, with its legendary safari parks and traditional cultures, discovered the welcoming warmth of South America, including the impenetrable Amazon rainforest, and marveled at the underwater beauty of the Galapagos Islands. Along the way, we enjoyed numerous encounters with truly amazing individuals, each of whom contributed to the way we now approach life. During our journey, we worked as a management couple in lodges and hotels in the Central African Republic, Mozambique, and Uganda. Running accommodations in these stunning yet challenging locations allowed us to develop a diverse skill set, laying the foundation for our future entrepreneurial dreams. After all our adventures, we found our home in Portugal in 2023. Quinta da Estrela, with its expansive vistas and laid-back charm, captured our hearts.
