Casa do Linho is a charmingly restored 3 bedroom stone farmhouse in the picturesque village of Vale de Souto. It is one of the oldest houses in the village built over 400 years ago. There are several river beaches close by which are perfect for a dip in the heat of the Portuguese sunshine. 200m up the road is the local cafe shop. Sertã and Oleiros are 10mins drive away, with larger supermarkets and some excellent restaurants.
Since 2012 we have been running an award winning yoga retreat in the mountains of central Portugal called Vale de Moses, which you are welcome to visit for a yoga class, lunch and/or massage treatment during your stay in Oleiros. In 2020 my wife and I bought a separate home in the nearby village of Vale de Souto and have been appointed by our neighbour to manage this charming 400 year old farmhouse cottage on their behalf.
Vale de Souto is a gorgeous village with 2 rivers running through it and several river beeches. Every house in the village has a strip of land in the food basin of the valley, full of olive and fruit trees and around half the plots still actively cultivated for food and herbs and grapes by the elderly residents. There are miles of hiking trails through the surrounding forests. Parking space in front of the house. Casa do Linho is the perfect spot to retreat from the world into the rich cultural experience of living in a community of gardeners - wise human souls who are always so welcoming to strangers and generously share their passion and produce from their gardens. It's also a central base to explore the nearby towns and river beaches of Oleiros and Serta.
