Location is good, close to the town centre, there are restaurants and cafes near, also close to mountains. There are plenty of parking spaces. We could use the heater with some pellets.
Set in Lousã, 29 km from Coimbra Football Stadium and 30 km from S. Sebastião Aqueduct, Casa da Rota dos Moinhos offers air-conditioned accommodation with a patio and free WiFi.

The cottage is quietly located on the outskirts of lousa, near the mountains, and has a nice view of the mountains. It is tastefully decorated and has a good bed. It is a good starting point for hikes. I lived there for 1 week to my complete satisfaction.

Central to the Schist villages which are high up in the mountains so you can hike and visit the old villages. Would recommend a day in Coimbra too. The old town of Lousa is nice for a stroll around too.

The surrounding mountains are beautiful.
The surrounding mountains are beautiful. Lousã itself is ok but not much to see or do. It’s ideal for hikers. You can start the trails (there are trailers for all difficulties) straight from the hotel. Octant Hotel has many activities organised every day to entertain guests. The town itself does not have much. Make sure to take a backpack with water and food for the hike. Towns along the way but limited food and water overall.

We stayed at Talasnal Mountains de Amore.
We stayed at Talasnal Mountains de Amore. The property was well maintained, bedrooms were lovely. Kitchen well provided. The village is quaint and very photgraphable. Our property had a small bathroom. It was my impression from the photos that the bathroom would have been larger. Also the property in the photos stated "Casa de Padre" but there was no such property with this name. The tavern was not open on the night we arrived - Wednesday, but was open for breakfast and coffee etc and lunch on Thursday. It was a bit pricey so we drove to Lousa to have lunch. It would be advised to find out if the Tavern is open for your arrival, as you might need to take your own food as we did.

Lousã is a great place for those who like nature and culture. There are amazing hiking trails with beautiful views. You can either stay in the city, Lousã, with very nice hotels and restaurantes or in one of the Mountain Villages, Aldeias de Xisto. Lousã also offers nice churchs and historical places to visit.

The main reason to stay here is for walking the national forest trails and visit the Shicht villages which are a wonderful experience, Be advised reaching them is via a continuous, twisty mountain road that can be exhausting, So we only visited one--Candal--which we thoroughly enjoyed. There is nothing in Lousa itself so consider this area a relaxing stop for outdoor enjoyment that is a great and welcome contrast to busy Lisbon and Porto.

The old parts of Lousa on the hill all 100 to 200 years old and all just a few minutes from the hotel but there are few actual restaurants mainly cafes. The impressive church Square and the ballet school building are both near the Octant Palacio Hotel

Beautiful renovated hotel located in perfect location to walk in forest, to castle, to schist villages. (We parked at castle for the Schist village walk but can walk from hotel.) Gorgeous grounds for families and adults. Wonderful pool area (only 8 chairs but still okay).
We'd stay here again and try other Octant properties.
The location is amazing. A bit more remote than I was expecting, but it was not an issue during my stay. It is a very quiet village, where not many people stay after the restaurants close. This was perfect for what I was looking for. Close to hiking trails and to the town of Lousa.
Lousã is like a second home to me, and Cerdeira has a special place in my heart.
I love the location, the well equipped and cozy houses, the views over the mountains and of course the kindness of everyone there.
