The staff were exceptional and the tour guides were there to make sure you get the most out of the escperience. Within the 1st 5 hours we were so lucky to have 2 male elephants roughing each other up 50 mtrs from our cabin. We saw everything and more on our list on our river cruises. The accomodation was great considering how remote the location is. The meals.were amazing. If you are a picky eater you may struggle. Each meal provided ($13aud) was rice, 2 vegetable dishes, 1 meat dish and fruit. It was so delicious home cooked meals. Take your own coffee if you dont like 3 in 1 coffee sachets (provided).

The staff and fellow guests made our stay. The set up is communal with all guests eating at the same time. The internet only works in this communal space. Turning that negative into a positive means it is a gathering place not only at mealtimes but at all times and people get to know each other. Spotlessly clean throughout, nice beds and pillows, good air con in the chalets. Food loving prepared by a Filipino lady, buffet style . A variety of activities on offer and flexible. Khai a great guide, very knowledgeable.

So we had a rough idea of what to expect staying at this property. We'd been traveling around Borneo for a few weeks and had stayed in lodges in national parks and nature reserves. We understand that they are basic facilities, and what they have is what they can offer and part of the experience of traveling and staying at these places is accepting that. What we didn't expect was just how wonderful the people were who ran and worked here. They made our three night stay worthwhile, and the guides - Kai especially (forgive spelling) was a fantastic character and a lovely guy. All the staff were so welcoming, and were happy to help with any issues we had. Would highly recommend and would recommend booking morning, afternoon, night cruises and night walks through them. We saw the big five and then some! Phenomenal.

The river safari was absolutely amazing. It’s a small walk to the pier from the lodge but we managed to see elephants, crocodiles, monkeys, loads of birds and even 2 orangutans! Kai was an excellent tour guide.

The lodge offers set meals and activities. We did the cruises and walks that were led by experienced guides. We also had fun with the batik workshop, creating our own design, followed by the waxing and colouring process. Breakfast was baked beans, sausage and fried egg, with an options for toast, fried noodles. Set meals were delicious and well balanced with two vegetables and a meat/fish dish. Food is sourced from the local and it wasn’t fruiting season so the only fruit offered with the meal was watermelon. The staff and guides were very friendly and always helpful answering questions about the culture and wildlife. The lodge is a short walk to the village and there is a lady selling kuih and mango pudding in front of her house.
