Great stay!! We booked as it was one of the cheapest dorm options for our stay but we felt very spoilt and felt like a treat. Stayed with my husband in 8 person dorm (we were the only ones staying in our dorm for the duration of our stay) They spread the guests in dormatory out acorss the 5 rooms giving everyone space. The beds comfy, the room had 8 plugs in it (not sure why other reviews said otherwise). The beds comfy, usually we like curtains in hostel beds but not essential. The grounds for the hotel are stunning, feels like your in the rainforest. The toilets super clean, indoor/outdoor vibe with lots of plants. Free tea and coffee from reception. The staff all amazing and friendly and hard working. Booked our jungle nighttime walk which was super and our bus back to kota kinabalu again super helpful as couldn't work out how to get tickets online - they arranged it all and we paid on the bus so they didn't make any money from us for this. The food was great! Ate there for lunch and dinner and breakfast. Buffet breakfast one day (they make fresh eggs/omlet for you if its buffet), the rest is self serve beans/ toast/ noodles potatos. Lunch and dinner was great good. We ate at the bnb closeby as we were hungry and resturant wasn't open (also good food) but the service/atmosphere better at our hotel.
Tip - walk to the orangatangs to see morning feed after breakfast, then go to see sunbears (next-door) around 11am (they get feed then too) then come back for a rest / play boardgames at hotel.

Staff are very helpful. We had a trouble in getting a transfer to airport. No grab was available. They helped us with their member taking us to the airport. Great help. Spacious room and natural garden.

We had a great time at this retreat. The view from the balcony was amazing, you could see and hear a wildlife. They offered tasty and cheap food. Lady from the reception helped us organize all the trips.

The grounds are beautiful- lovely lakes to walk across with a really impressive pool too. The restaurant was nice too- good food and variety. Location is great, it's right by the orangutan and sun bear centres

Great little place, perfect location close to a lot of restaurants, cafés, and shops.
The hotel is lovely, clean, well kept.
There are quite a few things to do in Sepilok. I will start with the most famous attraction: the Orang Utan Sanctuary. It was the 2nd time we visited, the first time was in 2021. Definitely more tourists now. There are 2 feeding times and because I wanted to take pictures, stayed near the feeding platform before 10am to get a good spot whilst all the tourists went to watch the feeding at the nursery. The nursery is good as you are guaranteed to see the Orang utans, but you see them behind glass, which gives a bit of a zoo feel. The feeding platform is great as you never know how many, or even if, the Orang Utans are coming. We saw 5 in the morning and 6 in the afternoon. We only saw 3 the next morning. If you have a big lens on your camera, the rule is if you have a fixed lens over 400mm, then you have to pay RM 1000. If you have a telephoto lens, it is only RM10. I brought my 150-600mm telephoto for RM10 without problems.
The bear sanctuary. Good for education and conservation but it is a zoo, with the bears in enclosures.
Another great attraction is the canopy walk. Bring plenty of water but the trails are great. they also organise night walks (no flash allowed) and the guides are very knowledgeable.
Finally, Labuk bay is not far and is great if you want to see proboscis monkeys up close. This time, we were treated to a troup of silver leaf monkeys coming to say hello as well. The fact that they feed the monkeys with bread is definitely debatable, but the monkeys are free to come and go as they please.

Able to visit the orangutan and sun bear sanctuaries at leisure as able to walk to them from accommodation. Those on a trip appeared to be rushed whereas we were able to enjoy time at both. Some nice places to eat within the various lodges, you don't have to be resident.

The glamping unit was amazing - spacious, quiet, nicely decorated. Great for a family. Awesome, helpful staff. Good food and bar. But unit had cooking facilities (no pork allowed on the grill.)
A ways from town but very close to other attractions like the Orangutan and Honey Bear sanctuaries.
WiFi was only available in the restaurant, but with our cell phones, we managed just fine.

Loved the orangutans got ripped off seeing the probiscus monkeys! Beware unless with organised tour make sure you get a solid agreement with a driver to take you there and bring you back. No extras! The feeding platform is 1.5km from the entrance! The 2nd platform another 1.1km away so 2.6km back to the entrance. There are no grab cars around!
We ended up flagging a car diwn on the road to ask for a lift to town! Was ridiculous! Walking in that heat too! Best to go on organised tour!
Book a grab early if leaving for airport too as not many arpubd it seemed at 10am!! Or not many wanting to go airport! Hotel tried to charge 75mr when grab is only 17mr! One big ripoff if you ask me!

Great place for viewing the Orangutans.
Great place for viewing the Orangutans. I stayed at 2 resorts over 3 nights. A buffet breakfast was included at both resorts and cafe/restaurant were open for lunch and dinner. I did a night walk and pre-ordered my dinner for when I arrived back. The resorts were next to each other and a 10 minute walk to the Orangutan conservation hut.
I was travelling with my 84 year old father, so we took an easy pace. I went to both the morning and afternoon sessions at the Orangutan conservation centre. I recommend arriving plenty of time before the feeding times (at least 30 mins) as the orangutans start arriving well before the food arrives. It's a great opportunity to get photos whilst they are in the trees and watch them swinging around gracefully. Only one young male came for the morning session, plus loads of long tailed macaques. 3-4 came in the afternoon, including a mum and baby. I saw larger male at the

It was my second time visiting Sepilok and both times I visited Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre, was an incredible experience to be so close to the Orangutans.
This time we also went to the Sunbears which was lovely to see this rare sighting of the bears and to see the good work the centre is doing.
We visited Rainforest Discovery Centre, for one of their night walks this was great, and i wish we had another day so we could have explored this park during the day...maybe next time.
Great location, good breakfast, staff were super friendly and eager to please. Bonus having a pool in the hot weather. Drinking water provided in the room. Fun karaoke was had one evening and staff and guests were both involved. Extensive evening menu, all reasonably priced. For a small fee, you can also get driven to the local tourist places such as Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, etc. Very close to the Rainforest Discovery Centre, only a 10 min walk.
The hotel is generally a one-night stopping off point for travel to the Kinabatangan River and as such it is a very good choice. The Orangutan Sanctuary, the Sun Bear Conservation Center, and the Rainforest Discovery Center are all a 10-15 minute walk away. The room was recently improved and was large and accommodating. The shower was huge. The on-site restaurant, Mango Garden, served good food with beer and wine available.
Room was great with comfy bed + mosquito net. Inside/outside bathroom. Clean bed sheets/towel and basic toiletries provided.
Community areas have gorgeous views over the rainforest - we saw three squirrel species and a snake whilst eating breakfast!
Great free shuttle service to RDC/orangutan sanctuary. Also organized travel for us when needed.
A really big and beautiful property, close to the sun bear and orangutan 🦧 centers. Walking distance to a couple of restaurants at more expensive resorts.
Very kind staff, good pool, comfortable rooms and a bit of a nostalgic feel because the property seems to have been built around the 1970s, at least judging by the style of it.
Perfect location for walking to the Rainforest Discover Centre and Orangutan Sanctuary. The complex is quite large with multiple lodges. The room was comfortable and large with AC and fan. The breakfast is okay and there is a restaurant which serves food until 8pm. You can pre order for eating after the RDC night safari.
Great hotel in the heart of the jungle. Also very close to both the sun bear and orangutan sanctuary (within walking distance) which is a big plus. Staff were friendly and attentive always making us feel welcome. Food was good quality given where we were staying. Great priced rooms for the location and nearby sights.
I really enjoyed my stay at Sepilok Forest Edge Resort.
Check-in was quick and easy. They have baggage delivery service, which was great.
The food was delicious 😋. And the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
My room was very clean. And the bed is very comfortable.
easy to find in googlemap/waze. 30minutes drive from sandakan city. new building. in room has fan and aircond. has water heater as well. we didnt take breakfast inclusion but if you want can add rm21.20. near the sepilok orang utan, sunbear and rdc.
Modern resort with an airy reception/restaurant, nice pool and individual bungalows in an attractive setting.
Well located for Sepilok attractions
WiFi (at reception) and food both excellent and attentive service
Great lodge in the forest, away from the noise and business of Sepilok and the resorts closer to SORC. Free shuttle to Sepilok.
Staff is very nice and it is a great place to experience the forest.
Loved the location, 10 minute walk to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehab Centre/Sunbear Rehab Centre.
Being so close to the jungle, we were able to see orangutans every day, one was on hotel room roof!
