The Old Manor house, built C 1680 has seen many changes in the last 300 years, resulting in a characterful, intriguing building, full of odd steps, low doorways and limited height in some rooms… An open fire in the breakfast room adds warmth and comfort in the winter months. Each bedroom is individually styled to suit the charms of each room, offering traditional furniture in a contemporary style. We aim to be as environmentally sustainable as possible, having removed single use plastic, providing environmentally friendly toiletries in reusable containers. Most cleaning products we use are recognised as being environmentally friendly. From the fresh milk in the bedrooms to the breakfast we serve we aim to offer locally produced and sourced ingredients. The age of the building provides challenges for people with limited mobility, please ask for our accessibility policies before booking.
Ann & Jim decided to finally achieve the dream that they first discussed 10 years ago when they met, so with their two dogs, Jet and Patch and the rather elusive cat, Ivory they relocated to North Lincolnshire September 2019 and took over The Old Manor B&B. Their ethos is simple, to provide a quality stay in a friendly relaxed atmosphere that is sustainable. By working with local business the range of locally produced and sourced ingredients has become the foundation of the breakfast service. The furniture and other finishes where possible have been ordered through local independent suppliers.
The Old Manor in the heart of North Somercotes (on the A1031) with local shops, pubs and restaurants within an easy walk. We are adjacent to McColls shop with parking for 2/3 cars on site and additional parking next door. Public transport to the village is limited, however intrepid guests have arrived form both London and Leicester using public transport. The Axe & Cleaver a traditional village pub serving home cooked pub grub in a friendly environment; Gigi’s an Italian restaurant provides a range of home cooked classic Italian dishes. In addition, The Bay Horse recently reopened, which is not currently serving food. Close by we have various Nature Reserves, including the world-famous Donna Nook the most successful breeding ground for Grey seals; pups can easily be seen from late October to the end of December. The magnificent beaches provide wonderful walking throughout the year, we are also on the doorstep of the Lincolnshire Wolds 20 minutes from the market town of Louth. The Old Manor is ideally suited for a relaxing break, whether taking well earned R&R, walking or cycling in stunning scenery, with ample wildlife and the simple pleasures of good food and great company.
