The hamlet of Rockford is referenced in the Doomsday book, and Rockford Farm, c.1770, is a 250 year old farmhouse and the original farm (pre-dating this building). The Farm’s sweeping views and close entrance into the New Forest National Park are only part of what makes the property special. Every moment and space is meaningful here – from countryside greenery to cozy nooks, rustic textures to timber roots. The thoughtful nature of our buildings convey a rare and sincere sensibility to English heritage charm and intimacy that we hope, keep our guests returning over and over again.

Kathyrn is the owner and visionary behind Rockford Farm. Originally from Australia, Kathryn and her family live in the new forest. Kathryn has travelled and lived all over the world and is proud to call the forest home. The Rockford Farm farmhouse and barn was thoughtfully restored by Kathryn, David her husband and Carolina of Carolina Mota Interior Designs, over a 2 year process which took the farmhouse back to bare brick. The Rockford Farm farmhouse and cart shed (building with arches facing the street) is Grade 2 heritage listed. Together we engaged many traditional building methods and crafts people to carefully restore the history and character of the building to its current form.

The hamlet of Rockford is bordered on the west by the edge of the New Forest National Park of Hampshire, England and to the east by a series of lakes known collectively as Blashford Lakes. These are natural wildlife sanctuaries for many fresh water birds and species and were once sand and gravel quarries excavated during the 1950s. Our nearest town is Ringwood, which lies approximately 1.8 miles south from the hamlet. The hamlet ‘Rocheford’ possibly meaning a local stony or rocky place to pass through the water (a ford) is referenced in the Doomsday Book of 1086, commissioned by King William the Conqueror.
