This was a great last-minute find, only booked a few hours beforehand, after changing our plans due to weather. The host (Arantza) was effusive in welcoming us to her homely guest-house. The room was comfy, and had a terrace with views of the countryside and the sea. The breakfast room was provisioned with tea, coffee and a microwave oven for residents to use. We went to a lively tapas bar in the village just a 1km walk away along a country footpath. An unexpectedly superb last night on our 10-day motorbike tour of the Pyrenees, Bilbao-Argeles and back. Ideally located for the short ride into Balbao for the ferry home the next morning.

Located on the beautiful Basque Coast, this country house has a garden with fantastic sea views. The country-style rooms feature free WiFi and a TV. The rooms at the family-run Casa Rural Arboliz have wooden floors. Each one has a private bathroom, and some have a private terrace with views of the spectacular coastline. This rural house offers a shared kitchen where you can prepare your own dinners. You can drive to Bilbao, its airport or San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in about 45 minutes. Gernika or Lekeitio is 15 minutes away and the beaches of Laga and Laida are in the same municipality of Ibarrangelu.
Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 9.0 for a two-person trip.
