Lekeitio is an absolutely beautiful place and staying in the hotel with views of the Basílica de la Asunción de María from our window in a 500 year old beautiful building felt like a privilege. The staff were fantastic and we will be back without a doubt.

La casita del encinar, hotel in Lekeitio

Set in Lekeitio and only 1.5 km from Playa de Isuntza, La casita del encinar offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. This chalet has a garden.

The location is spectacular. The accommodation is a simple hut, but all important things were there. The beds were quite comfortable. The hut sits on a large lot and our kids had fun running around. The walk to Lekeitio was about 1.5 km and very pleasant. You can get in very easily with a code.

First of all Lekeitio is a very safe town.

First of all Lekeitio is a very safe town. Walked a lot and always felt safe. It is the best little coastal town with beaches, bakeries, bars, restaurants, parking, grocery and other stores, within walking distance. We stayed at 20 Beheko Kalea and it was a perfect location - the port was about 4 minutes away. Didn't go into the water at the beach, but my grandkids did later this month and they totally loved it. We ate at the bar/restaurants by the port and we also ate at Restaurant Egana. All was great.

Visited early May on a sunny Tuesday and it was very quiet. Most resteraunts and bars were closed or had very limited choice. Hard to understand. Hopefully it picks up later in the season. Should have continued to San Sabastian!

we loved that this little town had all we needed for a relaxing three night break. No loud bars or blaring music and no large groups of "Brits Abroad". it is a very Spanish town but we felt very welcome. There is a small town centre with a few nice shops and the harbour has a good number of bar / restaurants to chose from. A very clean beach provides safe swimming. We arrived on a Sunday and the town was buzzing with locals and everything was open. Very diffent picture on Monday and Tuesday with a number of the harbourside establishments closed. A pleasant suprise is at the other end of the town where you can walk aroundpretty gardens with innumerate different trees and shrubs - all labelled. There is also a small aviary collection in the gardens . For a little luxury treat yourself to and afternoon drink and snacks at the Hotel Zubieta - which is in a lovely setting, in the grounds of the Manor House / Palace and is converted from the old stable block. The evening meal is recommended too - but you need to book in advance.

Lekeitio is a magical seaside town on the Basque coast - great harbour, one of Basque's best restaurants (Meson Aeropain), great town to walk in and around the outskirts, including along the coast to the lighthouse.

If you are reading reviews and have not yet decided whether to book this hotel or not, then stop thinking and book. This is a fantastic place. A cozy hotel with incredible interior, recreation areas and territory. The magic begins already from the entrance to the territory through the historical stone gates of the Zubieta Palace and bamboo alleys. Luxurious views, air, birds singing. The unique atmosphere of an old estate.

The view is amazing and both the village and the beach are at 10 min waking distance. The hotel is at high ground so if you are with a stroller with kids it can be a challenge. Our apartment had its own private little garden, so that was nice. We travelled with our dog. Nice touch in having a bowl with water for the dogs next to the bar. The ladies that welcomed us were nice and showed all properly.
