Guests enjoy unlimited WiFi per day. We stayed in a private room with connected bathroom and it was much bigger than we were expecting. Probably just a bit bigger than a standard hotel room but for the price I was really surprised to have so much space and a nice bathroom. The neighborhood is nice and quiet with plenty of street parking, and the grounds were lush with grass and flowers when we visited in spring. We had a late check in and the keys were waiting for us in an envelope at the reception area so it was super easy to check in, and there's a key drop box so check out is easy as well. We didn't have a chance to use the kitchen but the facilities looked nice.
Lake Tekapo
Lakes Edge Lodge is just a 3-minute drive from Lake Tekapo town centre. A free shuttle service is available to and from Lake Tekapo bus terminal.
The hostel is a 5-minute drive from Church of the Good Shephard and a 14-minute drive from Mt John University Observatory.
The location was perfect, from the lounge area you can see the lake.
Mount Cook Village
Situated Among the Southern Alps, Haka House Aoraki Mt Cook features views of Mount Cook, and is 200 metres from Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre. It offers affordable accommodation with a seasonal barbecue area, a self-catering guest kitchen and free access to a sauna room.
Guests can choose to stay in a lively dormitory room or in the comfort of a private room. Toilet and bathroom facilities are shared. Up to 5GB of free WiFi is available for guests.
I like the kitchen & dining area, feel free to cook & relaxing for our dinner n breakfast.

The self contained dormitory rooms are located at the front of the property and feature 6 rooms with shared facilities. There is also a separate cabin located near the river which offers solar powered lights, a composting toilet and an outside bath tub heated by gas. Excellent facilities, great owners and a lovely view

Situated in Lake Tekapo, 45 km from Mt. Dobson, Stay In Tekapo Backpackers has a garden, a shared lounge and barbecue facilities, as well as free WiFi. All rooms boast a kitchen, a TV with cable channels, and a shared bathroom. The accommodation features a shared kitchen and luggage storage space for guests. The bed was soft and comfortable. The room was big and there were only 3 bunk beds so I could use enough space. The room was warm and there were extra bedding as well, anyone can use them. Lounge, kitchen and toilet were clean and I saw the staff cleaning there eagerly. Every staff are so sweet. Location is also good. It might be a little bit expensive compared with other accomodation but I want to stay here again.

it was our first time in the Haka hostel in a shared dormitory, but I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and quiet it was. All the other guests in our 8 bed mixed dorm were considerate and kept noise to a minimum. The rooms were very clean and everyone tidied up after themselves in the kitchen and bathroom areas.
Great location, felt comfortable and safe staying in a female only dorm of 8. Kitchen was tidy, staff were helpful, other guests were considerate.
Even though it is for backpackers but there’s a privacy for the bunk bed coz each of it, is equipped with blinds and lights.
One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. It was super cosy, modern and extremely clean. Each bunk bed had their own curtains and usb plugs. It is the perfect spot to discover the breathtaking Mount Cook National Park. I did several day hikes and even an overnight hike. I couldn't ask for a better place to stay in at Mount Cook!
One of the last remaining brillant Backpacker Hostels in NZ! People from all over the world, young in years and young in mind meet and talk and are building up friendships. Simple but functional, comfy beds. And perfectly clean(!), not a matter of course for the very reasonable costs. Thank you very much, Stacy, for your effort and your hospitality!
My first experience of a youth hostel at 70 years old and l loved it
This Backpackers was by far the cheapest available option anywhere near Tekapo. Beds were comfortable and clean. Kitchen was well equipped.
Priced correctly for the standard of accommodation. A very run down building but good for a night if youre on a budget. Room basic, clean and comfy, shower floor needs attention, bar in original condition but pleasant, food and kitchen very nice. Would be better as a backpackers to bring more people in.

One of the best hostels I have been to, very confortable and clean, super relaxing atmosphere, good to meet people. First time I have slept in an 8-ppl dorm by myself! The best organized kitchen I have seen so far with perfect gas cooker, good and clean dish towel, soap for hands (and it is surprisingly not that that common in youth hostels!) Will definitely come back.
