We stayed at Locomotion Coffee and Bed for a couple of days while hiking in the region. From our previous experience in hostels we did not expect anything special but were wholly proven wrong.
Locomotion Coffee and Bed was the nicest, most luxurious guest house we ever stayed at. Beds are spacious and comfortable and the common room is quite cozy. There are also a fridge and electric kettle. Aside from a shower the hostel also houses an onsen that can be used free of charge, perfect after a long day of hiking. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. If wished, they can also prepare (delicious!) breakfast and dinner with vegetarian options available.
Locomotion Coffee and Bed is located right across from Tateyama Station and the cable car station, making it an ideal starting point to go to Murodō. The mountains around Toyama are also worth a hike.
We had an all aroud pleasant time at Locomotion Coffee and Bed and wish to return here for further exploration of the region.
Takaoka
Guest rooms in the hostel are fitted with a kettle. With a shared bathroom equipped with a bidet and a hairdryer, rooms at Travelers' house ROOTs also offer free WiFi. At the accommodation each room is fitted with bed linen and towels. I like everything. The staff is very kind, and give great suggestion. They are very chill and open to help you. The general vibe is super nice. Bed were very comfortable!. I loved it!

This is my first experience with my friends staying in a guest house, but the atmosphere inside was very cool, how clean everything was, everything was comfortable and the hostess was very nice
The place was great, and the people was so nice and the guys in the reception was very helpful and the best one of the best Hostel I was in my trip in Japan the bed was comfortable and the cat was so cute i’m very recommends to stay in this hostel. They also give me a free bus ticket.
I was welcomed very well by the friendly staff. Rooms are big enough for you to arrange your luggage. After a few nights in Tokyo in tiny spaces I was so happy to find a human-sized hostel. Games, mangas and guitar at disposal. Bathtub and free laundry. Very comfortable bed. Very happy with my (short) stay.
Great little hostel near Toyama Station. I stayed one night on a business trip. The hosts were super friendly, the cats are super cute, the bed was really comfy, and everything was clean. Thank you very much!
It was well equipped and had a nostalgic feel with vintage knick knacks! The property seemed to be a backpackers hostel back in the day, it was nice to see the little notes left by earlier travellers! The staff sends across a PDF document with lots of info and recommendations which is helpful - a tiny feedback to update it as it states that breakfast is provided (it is not).
Everything was clean and nicely put together! The owner is very very kind and shared some nearby restaurants and way to Ainokura. The hostel is located very near to the bus station. The toilet and shower room were very clean and the room was spacious! The owner also had a heater in the shower room, which I thought was so thoughtful. Would definitely stay here again if I’m visiting!

The conditions were comfortable and clean for a hostel. This location does give easy access to Shirakawa-go and Takayama because of the Nouhi bus at Toyama station.
A quick walk from the station, very safe and quiet area. The beds were much bigger than any hostel I’ve been in before (tall enough to stand up in!) and each had its own safe box and storage space. The facilities (kitchen, toilets, lounge areas) were clean and comfortable, and there were small towels that you could use for free or bigger ones for rent. As a bonus, there are CATS !! who are very friendly. The owners are nice people as well.
This hostel was one of the best hostel that I visited! Staff was super kind :) One of the happiest moment in Toyama city. I highly recommend this. (Trust me, I visited more than 30 countries and have lots of experiences of using hostels haha)
