Out of all my years travelling, I’ve never found somewhere that has ticked literally every box. It’s so clear that the owners have spent many years backpacking as everything has been thought of from a back packers perspective. As well as amenities, the vibe is so goooood. The chilled nights are chilled and the party nights are banging. The music and food, the staff, the location, everything! Thank you soooo much to Charlie, Styx and the gang for looking after me and attending to my every need. I’m so gutted I had to eventually leave. Love and appreciate you guys! May we meet again! I reccomend rain dance to everyone.

La Urraca all a was a little cosy home on Ometepe. The design is quirky, using eco materials, and everything was well thought through. We were shocked to have our first warm shower! Breakfast was well priced. The bed was comfy. We loved our stay!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

It was quiet and relaxed at this place. It was just in front of the water. They had a mango tree with tasty mangos. Everyone was very friendly and we could use the kitchen for preparing our meals. We were also able to order food which was very tasty and cheap. We had a motorbike, so transportation was convenient, but without it would be as easy. Our room was clean, we had two fans and enough space for our luggage. The tap water was drinkable. It was filtered water from coming from the mountain 🏔️.

The staff and community they have created make Finca Mystica the best place we have stayed throughout our trip through Central America. I was a bit concerned about being isolated and having all dinners at the hostel but this really works perfectly and the food is great.

This is a 10 from the heart. A very nice family, good food, great location. During the night, you can enjoy a sky full of stars. In the morning, at breakfast , there was a group of howler monkeys very close to us. Sunset views are great as well. The last bus from Moyogalpa to Merida leaves at 4.40pm and it’s a 2 hours trip. There is a sign on the left side of the road just as you leave Merida, the bus will drop you there. Otherwise, it’s a 20-30$ taxi trip. You can have lunch and dinner as well, food was delicious.

The home stay is amazing and not located in a crowded area with hostels. Teresa, the owner, is such a smart and lovely person. Her animals (dogs, cats, chicken) are amazing too.

Loved my 4 nights here. The staff were super nice and helpful and served delicious food in enormous portions. It’s definitely not a party hostel, but the communal dinners made for a really nice and sociable atmosphere. Plus a beautiful, tranquil setting, lovely garden full of monkeys, cute dogs, double bed in the dorm, loads of hammocks… and great value when I booked (start of rainy season).
