Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Very well maintained and beautiful. The owner was really helpful and friendly. Safe for women. A great place for family stay. The kitchen facilities were top notch.
The stuff and owner are great people. I am female traveling alone. So it can be dangerous India. But it was safe in the hostel. They helped me with every problem I addressed. I am grateful.
The owner was incredibly helpful in assisting me to get from the airport to the hostel. I really appreciated his prompt communication throughout the day.
The place is very very basic so just keep that in mind, it wasn't a social backpacker sort of vibe when I was there - but that might have just been the day I was there. The value for money is great and everything is very clean!
Hostel Gandhi is a good place por backpackers since it has the basic amenities you need for a comfortable stay and it's very well located in a commercial and central area of Trivandrum. The price/quality ratio is fair. Sadhu and Sathya are great hosts who are always kindly willing to help anyway they can and make your stay as nice as possible. This is a new hostel so there are some things that are just not ready yet but nothing that will make your stay less convenient. I'd choose it again.
"I went without any expectations, but the place is really great for the budget. The kitchen and common areas are not completely developed; they have a basic cooking setup. The road from the main road to the hostel is under construction, which made me walk a little bit during my stay. The caretaker, Sathya from Odisha, is very helpful. Thank you, Hostel Gandhi."
I am a budget traveller / backpacker. I was seeking simple, functional, affordable accommodation within the city and I found it here. I was not looking for great facilities or comfort. My stay in the room was restricted to a few hours of work and sleep. The rest of the time I was out. Within the above framework, this homestay worked for me. Vinod, the manager of this homestay, is an artist.
The staff is the best I have ever met. This is a homestay. If you are coming with family on a strict budget then this is a great option. Its safe and friendly.
However since its a homestay you won't be getting hotel like facilities. But you wont be disappointed. If you are a solo traveller or with family than this is a great option on budget.
