Rio Dulce
Surrounded by nature and offering an on-site restaurant and bar, Hotel Casa Perico is located in Amatillo. Free WiFi access is available. Guests can borrow a kayak to explore the swamps at no extra cost. A shuttle service is offered to and from the village of Fronteras. Absolutely wonderful! I loved arriving by boat. Using the canoes was loads of fun. Got lucky and had a great group of solo travelers with me in the dorm. The food is good and fairly priced (not dirt cheap, but worth the price).
Rio Dulce
Hostal Blood Moon is situated in Rio Dulce and has a plunge pool and pool views. This guest house features free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen, full-day security and organising tours for guests. Beautiful homestay, run by a lovely family. Well- equipped kitchen, water, coffee and pancakes for free. Little pool to cool down. Hammocks, a terrace- great value for little money. Bring enough Moskito- repellant 😉
Lívingston
Casa Manatí features accommodation in Lívingston. The property has river and inner courtyard views, and is a few steps from Ribera Rio Dulce Beach. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. Julio’s cabana was newly built and very spacious. He just finished the new porch overhang the day before my arrival! I really liked the rustic feel of the home, and how private it was. I was the only one on the property during my stay. I stayed in the private room, but took a look upstairs at the loft. There are multiple beds in an open floor layout, with mosquito netting to ensure a comfortable sleep. There are kayaks available for a small extra fee, making getting around on the river very easy - especially if you have friends nearby, would like to visit the thermal waters, or grab dinner at Restaurante Viajero. Julio also has a well stocked kitchen if you will be doing your own cooking, as well as an EcoFilter water purifier. Loved my stay! Thank you Julio and your family for making me feel welcome.
Lovely hostel on the river
Angela was a great host, helped book/arrange things. Room good size. Fantastic wooden walkway along the river flora. Good free kayaks
Homestay ran by a sweet family. Woke up to pancakes and coffee. Facilities are comfortable and clean. Great location, bank to change money is around the corner and 10 minute walk to ferry to Livingston. Owner can book your ferry ticket and is kind and helpful. Would stay here again, great value for your money.
The family is amazing. They are all so kind and warmhearted, especially Martha is the good soul of this place. Food tastes outstanding, reasonably priced. You can rent Kayaks and they offer you a boat shuttle service to/from Rio Dulce and Livingston. Felt more like a homestay than a hotel.
Marta and family run an awesome hotel. The make every effort to make you feel welcome and your stay as wonderful and possible! It gives a fairly unique home stay feel which we really loved. We stayed in a simple but comfortable and clean bungalow. There is a great eating area and place to relax at the river. The food was all delicious! We rented kayaks and had a beautiful paddle into one of the tributaries and then finished off swimming in the natural hot spring a short paddle from Casa Maya.

- Good hostel to stay for a night. Small, simple rooms. The beds didn't quite fit in there, not a lot of moving space - You could use the kitchen to make dinner - There is a small pool - Friendly owner
Great hosts, no volunteers, good food, free kayaks
Great place to spend a few days more relax during our trip around Guatemala. Tim and his crew are great hosts and make you feel very welcome. The food is delicious and it is a pleasure to eat all together.
