A lot of delightful small decorative figures throughout the place, very glad that the owner is willing to share the collections. Although the owner keeps emphasising that the rooms are small, I'd rather say they have very efficient space management. Safe parking space for bicycles.

The son and mother running the guesthouse were wonderful. It's a beautiful location, and because it is fairly far from the station, the son picked us up in his van at the station. We did have to call him to get us (which we knew ahead of time), so it's important to have the capability to do so or otherwise arrange it with the guesthouse host. We thoroughly enjoyed the onsen at the hotel with included yukatas and our very spacious room (had a heater/AC as well!). The sheets and yukatas and towels were impeccably clean and pressed. The son and mother had a lovely cafe with free beverages downstairs, and they also had a wonderful breakfast we paid for in the morning. I feel this guesthouse is truly a hidden gem and highly recommend it to anyone considering it. Easily one of the best places I have stayed at in Japan. My husband and I were so charmed during the whole experience.

Easy access without human interaction😁the property was small but clean and had all the essentials for a traveller including fridge, kitchen, microwave, shower and toilet. Shampoo & conditioner were provided which was a nice touch. Rooms were small but were air conditioned and clean bedding was provided. Curtains kept the room dark and each bed had their own bedside light so as to not disturb other guests.

It is a home away from home. Super cozy practical rooms, and the other areas are so cosy as well! I was always happy to come back and relaxed instantly.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
Lovely hosts. Unique and amazing design. Manga dolls, fish tanks, movie regalia it’s like being in a museum. The rooms are small but very innovative. Host cleaned and restocked everyday. Good base to explore Shiga.
The room with split level was small but cosy and with so many intriguing details at every turn. You can't help but marvel at the owner's design and attention to detail. The host family was lovely and their communal areas equally fascinating.
