It was a wonderful experience living in a property that’s about 150 years old. We had the whole property to ourselves, and the facilities provided such as the kitchen and provision of coffee was great. The owner was kind to give us a tour of the property as well. The owner was so kind by picking us from the sakashita station!

Offering a garden and mountain view, 馬籠ふるさと学校 Magome Furusato Gakkou is situated in Nakatsugawa, less than 1 km from Toson Memorial Museum and a 11-minute walk from Magome Wakihonjin Museum. This guest house features free private parking and a shared kitchen. The guest house has family rooms.

I really enjoyed our stay at Magome. We hired a car and drove from Tokyo to Osaka via the mountains, and decided to stay here as a one-night stay. I really wish we stayed longer. The staff are really friendly, and when we were there, it was super quiet and relaxing. The view of the mountain ranges from the window was really cool. The repurposed school is a funky idea, but the reality was an incredibly spacious stay (especially for Japan standards), and incredibly homely vibes. Big, wide hallways and creature comforts. A real communal feeling. We stayed in the twin bedroom as we're a family, and we were really happy with it. I'll also mention how friendly the staff were. They really enjoyed hanging out with us and interacting with our 2-year old. They even sat and did origami with us until late at night.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor. It has a hot public bath, and Japanese meals are available for a fee.

We love everything about Magome Chaya! I loved the traditional style and we appreciate dearly the hosts namely Ms Jeng with her husband and Ms Maria! Outstanding service! The guesthouse is clean and even though the bathrooms are shared, its adequate for all the guests. The highlight of our stay is the dinner and breakfast! Amazing food served with love and presented in an extremely beautiful manner!

Lots of space, quiet area, nice view of mount Ena. Great host! He went at great lenghts to help us book a restaurant in town on a busy evening. And helped us again, when train troubles had us delayed. Again, thank you so much. We can also highly recommend the restaurant reseveration.

The guesthouse is a beautiful 110 year old traditional wooden structure. The futon was very comfortable, all the facilities were great, and the room was spotless. Assi was a great host. I'd recommend Guesthouse Shigi to anyone visiting the Kiso Valley!

Our host Keiko met our bus in the village and drove us to the guest house. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, beautifully prepared and presented. The guest house was very quiet & comfortable, Keiko super welcoming and generous. She handed us a bear bell when we set off for our walk on the Nakesendo trail to Tsumago-juku and had prepared a hot soaker bath with citrus for our return. Delightful!

Beautiful old Japanese guesthouse in the middle of magome. The welcome was great. The host drove us to a restaurant as the village was quiet because of the holiday period. Japanese breakfast served when we asked in the morning.

    * Truly exceptional host. Kind, genuine and made our stay unforgettable. Highlights were his excellent recommendations and going above and beyond to help us. * Amazing decor and ambiance. It truly felt like we got to experience what it was like living in Japan in the first half of the 1900s. Cannot recommend this Guesthouse for the vibe and interior enough. * Great location if you would like to experience a more local and authentic side of Japan.

Such a cool little guesthouse in the heart of picturesque Magome. Things started well with a welcome lift from the bus station by the welcoming owners who also booked us a local restaurant for the evening. The small guesthouse is stylish with free tea/coffee available and cereal for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great view from our room. Lovely spot and great hosts.

We had a very pleasant stay at Guest house Motomiya. The owners were very friendly and helpful and their house is lovely, in the charming countryside on the old Nakasendo. The room was very nice and the beds confortable. And last but not least, the diner was delicious, made of several dishes each of them tastier than the other. Everything was perfect and we highly recommend Motomiya guesthouse !
