Centrally located in Longyearbyen, Basecamp Hotel is a traditional trapper's lodge-style property just 15 minutes’ drive from Longyearbyen Airport. The airport bus stops right outside. The hotel offers individually decorated rooms with driftwood furniture, fur rugs and free WiFi. The property is very unique in terms of the look & feel of the boutique hotel. Not too big but tastefully made. No shoes allowed inside so it stays clean thru out. Nice breakfast.

Affordable place to make your base camp for Svalbard adventures. The staff was AMAZING, if you have the chance to talk to Ruth from Bristol, you will be utterly delighted! I was surprised that even as a hostel they left you nice robes and had house keeping tidy up daily. The common area had a great breakfast and a nice bar (and hot chocolate station!) and was a nice place to chill in the morning or the evening.
Top class hotel and excellent accommodation. Was lucky to stay in a Junior Suite and was well worth it. Welcoming staff and the fact you change from boots to slippers makes it feel like home. Should we return to Svalbard the Funken will be our first and only choice. Loved the breakfast too and the Argentinean waitress was so nice. A friend within minutes.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was functional. Nothing really missing, but nothing extra either. A good choice of things to eat for breakfast, and good breakfast hours.
Elena makes everyone feel so welcome from the initial arrival and throughout one's stay. The guesthouse is welcoming too. Fresh, very clean and tidy. Elena often makes delicious treats and leaves nibbles out for hungry travellers. The kitchen is excemplary with your own fridge & cupboard but she has tea, coffee sauces, muesli etc to use. Recommend for sinle. Families, couples, & friends. Near bus stop. 10-15 mins walk to shops cafes etc. Perfect.

Everything! Funky style, lovely atmosphere, and breakfast. Bathrooms were very clean and spacious. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay.
Everything was perfect. Incredibly friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, amazing breakfast, cozy lounge areas. This was my second time here and I’m looking forward to staying at Funken Lodge again.
