This place is amazing. The restaurant and bar sections are beautiful, the living room next to the reception is very cozy and the rooms are great too. The breakfast is good and the staff is always friendly.

Very much enjoyed staying at Funken Lodge. Three points I would like to highlight in particular: Friendliness of each and every team member. They really want you to have a great time! Very cozy and comfortable lounge areas where you can hang out before or after your activities. The breakfast and dinner in the restaurant are exquisite, and the view from the tables is just mind-blowing.

Affordable place to make your base camp for Svalbard adventures. The staff was AMAZING, if you have the chance to talk to Ruth from Bristol, you will be utterly delighted! I was surprised that even as a hostel they left you nice robes and had house keeping tidy up daily. The common area had a great breakfast and a nice bar (and hot chocolate station!) and was a nice place to chill in the morning or the evening.

Food in the Restaurant Nansen was superb as was the breakfast. Sauna and outside Jacuzzi was fun when the temperature was minus 20 degrees C!

Top class hotel and excellent accommodation. Was lucky to stay in a Junior Suite and was well worth it. Welcoming staff and the fact you change from boots to slippers makes it feel like home. Should we return to Svalbard the Funken will be our first and only choice. Loved the breakfast too and the Argentinean waitress was so nice. A friend within minutes.

I booked a room at Coal Miner's Cabins for a quick holiday with a friend. Due to maintenance work, the hostel was closed, but I was contacted, and my stay was upgraded for free to Funken Lodge hotel, which is much more expensive and luxurious. Very professional behaviour from the hostel.

I was upgraded to the Funken Lodge with no extra cost because of refurbishment. The decor and the food at the Funken lodge was excellent. The room was very big.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was functional. Nothing really missing, but nothing extra either. A good choice of things to eat for breakfast, and good breakfast hours.

Good location at the edge of town. The room was functional but fine with a good view of the mountain opposite. Breakfast was good and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We also had dinner here on both of the nights that we stayed on on each occasion the food was excellent.
