The staff! The lady and gentleman at reception and in the restaurant were very open, sociable, willing to talk and actively provided information. Traveling as a tourist, we received such good tips.

On a beautiful location offering views of both the harbour and the Sørøysund strait, is Scandic Hammerfest. The oldest city in Northern Norway, Hammerfest is sometimes claimed to be the northernmost city in the world.

Breakfast was top notch, friendly staff that took the time to answer my questions about the area, walking distance to a few excellent restaurants. The bathtub in my room was a welcome change from most European shower stalls. Scandic has my business if they have a location where I am staying.

Each room at Smarthotel Hammerfest features modern décor, cable TV and a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer. All rooms offer partial sea views.

I was very lucky with my room: I looked straight at the harbour and church from my bed. Free hot water and tea bags whenever needed. Otherwise everything was fine and kind of as expected for a big modern hotel - good wifi, friendly staff etc. The breakfast was nice. Location is brilliant, and I really liked Hammerfest, as it is not too small to be bored yet not as touristy/big as other towns in the North of Norway. I washed two items of clothing with the soap in the bathroom and they still smell nice even 4 days afterwards :)
