We loved the everything about our stay, we couldn’t fault The Old Hall Inn.
The staff were amazing, so accommodating and friendly. We were celebrating a birthday on our stay and we really did have the best time. As a party of 4, we stayed in the paper mill annexe. Our rooms were beautiful, comfortable and the views were stunning.
We ate in the restaurant at night in the old hall and the food was outstanding. The decor is beautiful and quaint and the staff really cannot do enough for the guests. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice to suit all guests.
I really cannot fault this family run business. It was one of the best short stays we have had. The area of Chinley is fantastic for walks, we took advantage of the loan of a gps device from the hotel to explore the area and the views close by were spectacular.
Thank you for a great stay, we will definitely be returning and recommending this gem of a hotel to friends and family

From the moment I booked the team at Merchants Yard went above and beyond to ensure I had the best possible stay. Nothing was a problem for them, organising flowers as we were celebrating our 25th Anniversary, booking a table for dinner, offering advice on things to do near by and much much more. On check in the team were brilliant, friendly welcome and a complimentary drink (thank you). Throughout our stay the team were amazing, always happy and made sure we had everything we needed. Brilliant 👏👏

The cottage is in a great location for doing everything we wanted to. It was very comfortable with all the amenities we’d need. The bathroom is great!
As families grow in size, so too do the needs of a family holiday. That’s why family hotels are set up to cater for all ages, from toddlers and kids to teens and adults. Typically, you can expect restaurants with kids’ menus, games rooms, fitness centres and a pool area where children can play and parents can relax.
Property was in prime location and the rooms are spacious for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2kids). The amenities are all excellent. It wasva very warm and cosy stay with a super responsive owner providing all what we needed. Kids loved the loft room/bed room.
Great apartment within a beautiful building and location. Our kids (aged 8 and 10) loved the ‘bunk bed’! The apartment had everything we needed. The hosts were great too and really helpful. We would 100% recommend for a family or a couple.
The room was very comfortable and had everything that we needed in it. It only took us about 10 minutes to walk into central Buxton, where there were plenty of restaurant options. The hosts were absolutely lovely and very accommodating. We were travelling with a one-year-old and they made sure that we had everything we needed, plus were able to give us family-friendly ideas for things to do and places to eat. The breakfast was also delicious! Would definitely stay again!
Everything. Location, comfort, peaceful, accommodating for small children, lots of considerate nice touches to welcome you on arrival. Even created a series of maps for you if you wanted to go for walks. We cannot wait to return.
Great location in the heart of Buxton. Very grand feel to the hotel. Family Room was a very good size with full size individual beds for both of our children.
We stayed in the flat as a family. It is excellent. Very comfortable and with lovely views. Reception staff very helpful. Child friendly. Superb location. Interesting history. I score it 9/10 because of the little things that let it down, such as a broken lock on the bathroom door and the breakfast chef not being able to cook porridge despite two attempts. I would recommend and will stay here again.
Pleasantly surprised with the facilities. Great for families with young children. Changing mat, nappies, kids toys as well family games included, which we were not expecting. Clean and tidy with towels provided too. Good communication with housekeeper before and during stay. Would definitely book again.
Clean and welcoming cottage which was great for our short stay (2 adults, 2 children). Convenient car parking space opposite the cottage. Small children's play area nearby. Loved seeing the horses and chickens next door and meeting the local dogs and cats. Kids also enjoyed watching the fish in the small pond. Excellent communications from owners. Friendly and helpful.
This place is not child friendly. We were unable to have the fire on as it has no surround and our toddler was not able to walk around when on.
There was no carbon monoxide alarm which made us anxious to sleep there.
We requested a baby cot which was advertised but it was more like a pet carrier where you zipped your baby inside it.
We booked three nights but left after two as it was just not relaxing or fun.
