Stay at Sonnen was exceptional, Katja was amazing, check in and check out was smooth due to ongoing communication and Katja was super quick to respond and accomodating to our requests. Katja met us in person when we checked in and gave us a tour of the place. Breakfast was vegetarian and there was a great selection. Accommodation itself was 10 stars, from the view to the set up (cute sleeping bags for the kids), and personalized guides to help you with your stay. Facilities was top notch with designer appliances (incl. Dyson hairdryer) and the place is super clean.
Location is a bit out of the way however easily accessible via bus and the complimentary visitor Bern + pass is handy for commuting around. If you are travelling with luggage, go down the road from the other side of the bridge otherwise you'd be carrying luggage down 100+ steps. The biggest challenge would be pushing the luggages up and down the hill on cobblestone streets.

As families grow in size, so too do the needs of a family holiday. That’s why family hotels are set up to cater for all ages, from toddlers and kids to teens and adults. Typically, you can expect restaurants with kids’ menus, games rooms, fitness centres and a pool area where children can play and parents can relax.
The whole apartment is in a beautiful haussmannien family house with a very green private garden. The apartment is not far from the center of Bern, a few minutes by bus.
It has a perfect isolation from noise and heat, and therefore very comfortable to live in. My kid also enjoys a lot the garden.
The host is friendly, and helpful. They have left many lovely notes in the apartment that could help you navigate in Bern.
We arrived during a UEFA Euro 2024 match. The environment at the lobby bar was fabulous. Festive and family friendly. The staff was great throughout our stay. They helped in every way. Breakfast was fantastic and the hotel location was just right.
Great little spot and comfortable room right in the heart of Bern. The building looks old (as you'd expect in the historic district...) but inside is modern and recently refurbished. Breakfast was nice; I didn't get to really chat to any of the staff properly but they were friendly; and the location is great. Much more affordable than many other Bern/Switzlerand options, too. The pillow service is a fun idea.
Rob and Sarah did a fantastic job setting up the apartment for us, the kids loved the set up for their beds in the loungeroom, and they were so accommodating to our questions and requests.
The apartment is absolutely beautiful, well maintained and appointed, and situated right in the heart of old Bern. I couldn't recommend this more, whether you are a couple on a getaway, or a family on holiday.
10/10 will try and stay again if/when I return.
i travel with family of 4 (2 adults and 4 and 5 years old child). book the room with sofa bed (and add 1 extra bed) this still give the room a lot of space for my kids to run around.
the hotel location is brilliant! about 7-8 mins walk to the bern old city, and all the top spots of the city are in walking distance.
car park building is only 2 mins walk. lots of shops and restaurants by the hotel.
the best part is; the staff. they’re all very kind and helpful.
Excellent hostel in a fantastic location - ten minutes on the bus to Bern Bahnoff train station. The number 19 bus takes you to the accommodation in ten mins. The kitchen was excellent and dining area for breakfast was huge. There was cereals, bread, chocolate spread, Jams and boiled eggs available for breakfast as well as orange and apple juice and tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There was a kids play section in the dining room so this hostel is family friendly. Staff were friendly too, would recommend!
