Emafweni, hotel in Champagne Valley

Offering an outdoor splash pool, a small private lake and mountain views, Emafweni is located in Dragon Peaks in the central Drakensberg mountains.

The location was remote and peaceful. Loved the stillness with the river running by as well as the pond and bird life. Would have enjoyed staying longer. We enjoyed sitting in the Winter sun on the verandah in the early morning. We also loved lighting a fire in the evening to warm up the chalet. We also appreciated the electric blanket on the bed !

The spa was great, but the Bell & whistle Restaurant, terrible, food is overpriced and really bad. Electricity was off the one night, when it wasn't even loadshedding, their generator wasn't working, because it was not serviced. The Leap adventure, we did the quad biking, basically paid over R900 just to drive around in circles?? Will never go again

I loved the mountain view, the atmosphere, the tranquility.

I loved the mountain view, the atmosphere, the tranquility. The area is the right place for people who love nature. There are many attractive areas one can choose for eating. We had our brunch at Thokozisa Restuarant. Our plan is to go back there sooner for a longer stay so that we can explore as many activities as possible. I wish they can fix the issue of potholes on the roads, they're not good for such a busy place.

Lots of accommodation options but it is getting more expensive. A number of eating out options now too - and most basic groceries and drinks can be bought in the valley without heading to Winterton where there is a Spar. Increasing number of activities on offer - Segways, Bell Park dam, golf, chocolate tasting, helicopter trips, quad bikes, Falcon Crest (birds of prey), reptile park, canopying, plane flips, hot air balloons, breweries, etc etc. But best is to find a place with a view and just relax, or hike. There are public hiking trails to sort all abilities starting from Monks Cowl and from resorts such as Drakensberg Sun. Dragonview Lodge was a new place we discovered - nice views from their restaurant - recommended.

I liked the view but it spoiled so bad during night time.

I liked the view but it spoiled so bad during night time. We didn't sleep the whole night. We were attacked by big rats the whole night. They were moving all over the camp tent, moving on top of the bed when we a sleeping, Opening pots, They poop on our left food. We booked for three nights but we spent only one night and ran away. We didn't spend our two nights. We complained to management to but they laughed at us. We checked out early and drive to Durban. I hate that place, it spoiled my birthday month. I caused me spend a lot money . I wanted a refund but no help.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom chalet, very comfortable, clean and came with everything we could have asked for. Views cannot be topped, a fantastic place to stay. The hotel has private hiking routes up to the plains.

Champagne Valley is an exquisite area of the berg.

Champagne Valley is an exquisite area of the berg. There is so much to do. Lots of activities, hikes, local businesses. Great cheese shop and chocolate tasting with locally produced chocolate. Great brewery with variety of different beers & snack boards. The Valley Bakery is a must, great pizza and meals and their bakery products are fresh every day.
