Champagne Castle Hotel, hotel in Champagne Valley

Situated within the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg World Heritage Site, this 4-star hotel is surrounded by gardens and overlooks the Drakenberg Mountains.

The location is excellent. We stayed in the chalets. I would say that the chalets need some revamping. It's getting quite dated. Also they need a deep clean especially the bathrooms

Dragon Peaks Mountain Resort, hotel in Champagne Valley

Dragon Peaks Mountain Resort has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Champagne Valley.

The view from the room was good but what i liked more was that the property is huge and there are many places for quiet contemplation. I also liked the hiking trails even though i couldn't go on all of them. There is also a caravan park on the property for when I build my motor home.

Treks, Trips and Trails, hotel in Champagne Valley

Offering views of the Bell Park Dam and the distant peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains, Treks, Trips and Trails features well-appointed self-catering chalets in the Champagne Valley.

We arrived to the friendliest welcome. We had everything explained to us regarding the property, as well as, where to go during our days; sites, activities, food etc. But it was when we got to the house we were staying in that our jaws, quite literally, dropped. The house was almost fairytale like, set into a view that would take pages to describe. It was nothing short of mind alteringly beautiful. If you are looking for a location that takes your breath away every time you look outside, this is the place.

I loved the mountain view, the atmosphere, the tranquility.

I loved the mountain view, the atmosphere, the tranquility. The area is the right place for people who love nature. There are many attractive areas one can choose for eating. We had our brunch at Thokozisa Restuarant. Our plan is to go back there sooner for a longer stay so that we can explore as many activities as possible. I wish they can fix the issue of potholes on the roads, they're not good for such a busy place.

Lots of accommodation options but it is getting more expensive. A number of eating out options now too - and most basic groceries and drinks can be bought in the valley without heading to Winterton where there is a Spar. Increasing number of activities on offer - Segways, Bell Park dam, golf, chocolate tasting, helicopter trips, quad bikes, Falcon Crest (birds of prey), reptile park, canopying, plane flips, hot air balloons, breweries, etc etc. But best is to find a place with a view and just relax, or hike. There are public hiking trails to sort all abilities starting from Monks Cowl and from resorts such as Drakensberg Sun. Dragonview Lodge was a new place we discovered - nice views from their restaurant - recommended.

I liked the view but it spoiled so bad during night time.

I liked the view but it spoiled so bad during night time. We didn't sleep the whole night. We were attacked by big rats the whole night. They were moving all over the camp tent, moving on top of the bed when we a sleeping, Opening pots, They poop on our left food. We booked for three nights but we spent only one night and ran away. We didn't spend our two nights. We complained to management to but they laughed at us. We checked out early and drive to Durban. I hate that place, it spoiled my birthday month. I caused me spend a lot money . I wanted a refund but no help.

Champagne Valley is an exquisite area of the berg. There is so much to do. Lots of activities, hikes, local businesses. Great cheese shop and chocolate tasting with locally produced chocolate. Great brewery with variety of different beers & snack boards. The Valley Bakery is a must, great pizza and meals and their bakery products are fresh every day.
