SLO is a college town, so keep that in mind when planning your vacation. Move-in dates and graduation make it expensive, too expensive for what it is worth. SLO is a good midpoint near the Central Coast, to the southern towns, and up north to Paso. The ocean is less than 15 minutes away. Historically, there are some interesting sites to see in SLO. Food is fine, just look for the places with good reviews.

From my experience, its gorgeous scenery BUT the transportation is antiquated, resulting in higher travel expenses because I had to Uber everywhere.... Rent a car or have alternative transportation set up if you do decide to visit SLO.
Theres only two buses out there that run once an hour.
And one bus on the weekends.

Absolutely beautiful area.
Absolutely beautiful area. Very charming downtown with a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Beaches a short drive away. Highly recommend SLO Provisions for breakfast. El Esquina for a delicious meal. Farmers Market on Thursday nights give a wonderful sense of local products, foods and services. Very easy to walk around downtown. Morro Bay is an easy 20 min away. A beautiful drive. Morro Bay is a charming beach filled with local surfers, people walking their dogs or just hanging out to soak in the waves and surrounding beauty.

Close to downtown, shopping and restaurants to include the famous Madonna Inn. We were there to visit our student at CalPoly. Great amenities for our family. Always nice to have extra space in our room with the living room/dining area.

Very pleasant town with access to beautiful hikes.
Very pleasant town with access to beautiful hikes. Easy to get around. I loved how unique all the different buildings and houses were. Food was only decent, but not terrible. Good breweries, too! Very walkable. The highlight was going to the hot spring resort for their hour-use tubs.

The location was perfect. A 15 minute walk from the train station in the heart of Downtown. The layout of the room was great. Lots of space dedicated to the bathroom/shower/dressing area. The hotel was modern/rustic with clean lines that were pleasing to the eye. Very quiet. Good food at the in-house restaurant. Did not get a chance to use the pool but very pretty area. The gym was well equipped
Cleanliness and friendly staff.
Nice welcome by Cassandra, clearly informing us about the hotel rules and welcoming us with a nice glass of local rose wine.
After we checked out, One person in our family left the computer cables and phone cables at the hotel, and they kindly called us after we checked out to arrange the best way to ship our stuff.
The bistro is cute, with a nice bar.
This hotel ticked a lot of boxes and we enjoyed our stay here.
It was a great place to stay and I would stay here again if I was in the area.
The check in staff were very friendly and helpful and check in was simple and uncomplicated.
Good facilities, such as laundry room on each floor, a gym and water fountain located on the second floor and breakfast room and small roof top pool.
Very weird but interesting place. Room was fun and decor in restaurant and bar was crazy and weird, tacky but in a good way. Nice with a hotel with some character. The food was nice in the Cooper cafe, didn’t try the steak house as it was very pricey. The best part was the pool area - lovely big pool, bar that served drinks and sandwiches and just nice spot to be.
The rooms are SO beautiful. So nicely decorated, fresh updates but still a sweet country feel to them. The restaurant onsite served us the best breakfast we have had in years -- and we eat out a lot in the SF Bay area at a lot of high-end restaurants. This breakfast was amazing! The property is well maintained and really beautiful. We highly recommend.
The hotel is pretty with very comfortable and well-appointed furnishings that match the Victorian vibe. The breakfast was very good and creatively fixed. It is very unique in the SLO area as a well put together period hotel - showing what the valley must have been like 100 years ago, but the furnishings and the bathrooms feel fresh.
I've stayed here several times and it's always good. The rooms are quiet and the area is quiet. Jerry is a great guy and he went the extra mile for me when I had a scheduling issue. I think the Sunbeam is the best deal on the central coast and I've stayed at a lot of places around here over the years. Rock on, Jerry!
This was a cute Inn. The room we stayed in had a comfortable king size bed and there was a sitting area with a loveseat. It was a large room and it was quiet. All of the staff associated with the inn were friendly and kind. Hotel was at the end of a series of standard hotels but this one was more unique.
Outstanding location, 5 minute walk to Thursday’s San Luis Obispo’s Farmer’s Market, and other downtown restaurants and shopping venues. Very quiet at night, clean & comfortable sleeping, bathroom arrangements, friendly and lively staff. Great value, will return.
We always stay in Buena Vista hotel when we visit the area because we find it to be very comfortable and good value, friendly personnel and a nice walk to nearby bars and restaurants. Also my motorcycle is happy to be parked in a parking garage. Thank You
This is the best value-for-money place I've stayed in yet. Well-located in the most charming town, the Vagabond Inn was a gem. Clean, well-equipped rooms, good wifi, super easy check-in, and very short drive from downtown or to some great hiking spots.
The location wasn’t too far from downtown area. So, that’s nice. We did an overnight leisure biking trip though, so it wasn’t the best from the train station since the last 0.4 miles is a slight incline.
Place is clean. Pool and jacuzzi were good.
Among hotels in this range, this one is pretty good. 60's or 70s construction, 2 story, exterior corridor, rooms renovated pretty recently, nothing fancy. Pretty clean, tile floors in the room (better than rugs IMHO).
One of the best run motel 6 in the area . Qualified and Friendly staff . Comfortable room and area around motel. This property is maintained better than most. I always enjoy staying there .
