I don’t want people to visit this place because it’s my secret. If people knew how sweet and special this place is they would bring their cars and their horrible children and their golfing husbands and poorly behaved dogs. Lee Vining is reserved for people who respect and understand the the fragile nature of a tiny mountain hamlet and the rustic charm of mom & pop businesses and the unique style and beauty of a little gem of a town.

All the restaurants were closed (between seasons); we had to go to the next town to eat - not a big deal.
Mono Lake and the surrounds are incredibly unusual beautiful and very different. This was my second trip but I would like to return again.

Lee Vining is a small "gas station stop" kind of mountain town that is not necessarily a destination. It is the best entry point to Yosemite Valley, and the perfect base camp for your adventure.

Very small town in a very beautiful natural area.
Very small town in a very beautiful natural area. Stones throw from Mono Lake. The food and lodging choices are limited. As a vegan I had zero options for restaurants. But that isn't too unusual in a small town. The setting - on the lake and at the foot of the Eastern Sierra, near the road to Tioga pass is what makes this place special.

If you’re visiting Yosemite, Lee Vining is perfect.
If you’re visiting Yosemite, Lee Vining is perfect. We travelled from Vegas & stayed here the night before heading into Yosemite. Such a cute little town, full of lovely, friendly people. Mono Lake is beautiful & I've never breathed such fresh, crisp air. Beautiful little town & an authentic piece of real America. Would really recommend
There is very little in Lee Vining but our host was very friendly and the location was very good. The motel's site says to ring if going to be late to arrive because the place closes about 8pm. the only trouble was that from Las Vegas to Lee Vining we could not find cell/mobile phone reception to be able to ring ahead. Fortunately we arrived early enough to be able to obtain checkin without difficulty. Room was good, host very friendly and would stay here again.
Really close to east entrance to Yosemite - biggest advantage. Quite old room, therefore price in my opinion is too high for given standard (most expensive room in our 2week trip in USA), but all in all there was no problem with late check in and check out. Room was clean and standard like all other motels in US.
Lake View Lodge have uploaded a load of photos of detached cabins to booking.com when in fact it is a substandard motel. This is very misleading. The price was extortionate and the motel was very poor, made even worse by very rude and unhelpful reception staff.
The cabin was really clean, in a very peaceful place. We got everything we needed for breakfast. There is a very good grocery store by the Hotel that was a plus. It was listed with no Internet Access but it has WIFI that was a good surprise!
The staff was very friendly and accomodating . We were close to great restaurants and interesting sites in Lee Vining . Spectacular views of the Sierra mountains and the Tufas of Mono Lake . We could see the lake from our motel room .
Pleasantly surprised. The hotel is well taken care of. Rooms are big and confortable. The outdoor area is pleasant. The little market next door is perfect to fill up before exploring Yosemite. Great sunset over the lake.
Room size was good. Room had refrigerator and microwave, which came in handy since we traveled during off season and no local restaurants were open. Perfectly located for taking in all the Mono Lake sights.
Great location - Lee Vining is an amazing town, great views and great people. We even saw a bear walking down the street. The motel's staff helped us a lot with information about hiking trails.
Loved the 3 Queen beds room option--very unusual and would only work in a old hotel that's been "remodeled," but perfect when traveling w/a few kids. Room was nothing fancy but functional.
The hotel itself was good, the employees were very nice. Room was clean.
Lee vining is surrounded with quite a few interesting places. I would book again there.
