All the restaurants were closed (between seasons); we had to go to the next town to eat - not a big deal.
Mono Lake and the surrounds are incredibly unusual beautiful and very different. This was my second trip but I would like to return again.

Lee Vining is a small "gas station stop" kind of mountain town that is not necessarily a destination. It is the best entry point to Yosemite Valley, and the perfect base camp for your adventure.

Very small town in a very beautiful natural area.
Very small town in a very beautiful natural area. Stones throw from Mono Lake. The food and lodging choices are limited. As a vegan I had zero options for restaurants. But that isn't too unusual in a small town. The setting - on the lake and at the foot of the Eastern Sierra, near the road to Tioga pass is what makes this place special.

If you’re visiting Yosemite, Lee Vining is perfect.
If you’re visiting Yosemite, Lee Vining is perfect. We travelled from Vegas & stayed here the night before heading into Yosemite. Such a cute little town, full of lovely, friendly people. Mono Lake is beautiful & I've never breathed such fresh, crisp air. Beautiful little town & an authentic piece of real America. Would really recommend

I came for Lake Mono and it was magnificent.
I came for Lake Mono and it was magnificent. Bodie Ghost Town is definitely worth an extended visit. The surrounding area is a hiker/backpackers dream. Stop by the Epic Grill for a meal on the terrace
There is very little in Lee Vining but our host was very friendly and the location was very good. The motel's site says to ring if going to be late to arrive because the place closes about 8pm. the only trouble was that from Las Vegas to Lee Vining we could not find cell/mobile phone reception to be able to ring ahead. Fortunately we arrived early enough to be able to obtain checkin without difficulty. Room was good, host very friendly and would stay here again.
The location was good. It was close to restaurants and a great coffee shop. The staff was friendly and helpful. Also, if you like to hike, the trailhead to the Lee Vining Creek is close(walking distance). It was gorgeous! We took the trail to the MonoBasin Scenic Center and then to the marina and then returned the same way. It is a great way to view Mono Lake!
Standard motel but the Location is excellent for access to Yosemite park and lower cost. The motel does not offer a breakfast, but there is a very nice restaurant (Nicelys) a short walk up the road. Good food and very reasonable prices.
Pleasantly surprised. The hotel is well taken care of. Rooms are big and confortable. The outdoor area is pleasant. The little market next door is perfect to fill up before exploring Yosemite. Great sunset over the lake.
Lovely lodge, friendly helpful staff, good food in the Basin Cafe and hotel/lodge residents get 10% discount. Staff helpful. Convenient parking and good little shop just outside and a few good restaurants.
Spacious with separate toilet/shower room, a sink room, & another sink outside of those rooms. Direct TV provided movies at nite. Good location on hwy 395. Nice view of Mono Lake & sunrise.
Loved the 3 Queen beds room option--very unusual and would only work in a old hotel that's been "remodeled," but perfect when traveling w/a few kids. Room was nothing fancy but functional.
A good stopover after a day in Yosemite. Basic motel accommodation but clean and comfortable. Ate well at Niceleys in the evening.
Make sure to visit Mono Lake and the tufas.
Beds were super comfortable, free parking was great, across the street from several restaurants. Very close to Mono Lake which was our main destination,.
