We enjoyed several wonderful excursions while in the Chesapeake area! We traveled to attend the annual Military Tattoo which is held in Norfolk at Scope Arena every April! It is an amazing patriotic show with over 800 military performers (including bands, vocal performances, drill teams, drum teams, etc) from around the world!
We also took a Wild Horse Adventure Tour on Corolla Island, NC. It was absolutely wonderful! An exciting safari riding on the beach shore in a comfortable extended Hummer vehicle locating the wild horses on the island! The two hour drive was easy and worth the trip!
The Naval Base Rover boat tour behind the Naval base in Norfolk was so informative and enjoyable viewing huge military ships, subs, tug boats, etc.
(Note: This tour is full of detailed narration that may not be as accommodating for young children.)
We had hoped to take the Dolphin Watch Boat tour offered by the Virginia Beach Aquarium but the weather turned cold and rainy so we were unable to join that excursion.
Riding over the Chesapeake Bay bridges & tunnels was very disappointing. $16. each way ($32. Just to ride over and back!😳) and the restaurant/gift shop is now closed that was located in the viewing area in the middle of the waters. A tiny souvenir gift closet is now at the north end of the bridge but so very small and no restaurant on the water! Disappointing!
We enjoyed our visit to this area experiencing some wonderful excursions while there! This made a special place to visit and participate in significant adventures while leaving the cares and worries of life behind you for a few days!

I came to visit with a friend. There’s a lot of freeways! And there’s the bridge and underwater tunnel. Food is usually hard to find as I am a vegan, but it was easy to find. I enjoyed myself and definitely plan to visit again

Not really much to like other than it had a roof.
Not really much to like other than it had a roof. Dirty floor, floor mats were available for bath towels, lots of very 'shady' people meeting and gathering on the property. Around 3 am, a group of adults gathered outside our room on the balcony to meet, talk, laugh for over 2 hours.

Not a place that I would recommend traveling to.
Not a place that I would recommend traveling to. VERY expensive and poor quality. Ugh !! Hoping that I NEVER have to go back. HIGH taxes which do not appear to go to the schools, roads, police, fire and rescue squads much
Parts of this city have natural beauty which developers are tearing down as fast as they can buy it. Many thieves in suits in this city I'm guessing.
Very oppressive to the lower class as well. Idk how they manage to survive other than the grace of God.

I like the location.
I like the location. Very safe and walking distance to everything. But this Hilton was very poorly kept and for what my 2 day bill was.... HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE GACE CLOTHS and a clean bathroom for me?? Now my question is how do I get some of my money back?? If you're traveling thru the VA Beach/ Chesapeake area.... STAY AWAY FROM THE HILTON. You'll be sorry and mad as hell. This is the 2nd time I failed yo read and adhere to travel advice on a hotel. But nobody has offered me any of my money back for buying my own bath supplies yo stay at "THE Hellton"..

We have relatives and friends in Chesapeake.
We have relatives and friends in Chesapeake. I enjoy the area for a short visit. The location was excellent, with easy access to highway as well as local travel. Plenty of eateries and usual shopping places. Not the same as a Charleston or Savannah, but near the beach and worthwhile to visit. Musical entertainment and shows are limited.
Hey, as soon as we entered the room we informed the receptionist that it smells really bad. The room was so dirty we couldn’t even breathe properly. We informed the front desk about the sanitary conditions and they did not accommodate us at all. They sent us a spray and told us to spray ourselves. The bed looked like it had been slept on and not made and cleaned after that and when we informed the front desk she very rudely told us to clean it ourselves. Never had such a bad experience before. Very disappointed.
Very clean. Every staff person we encountered was very friendly and polite. I liked that they were supporting the local community by supporting a fundraiser. Gave it a hometown feel. Close to everything and easy to find. Great price and really good quality breakfast buffet. Close/Easy entrance from the back parking lot and front to the lobby. Room size was good for a couple.
We travel all over the US. This was an OUTSTANDING place to stay. Rooms were perfect! Beautiful hotel. Staff was the best! Breakfast was by far the best we've ever had at a hotel. Would pay good money at a restaurant for what we ate. Rate was completely affordable. Would stay here again and wish ALL hotels were like this one. Wonderful experience:)
bed was very comfortable, room nice & big, a/c cooled the room very well, cleansiness was excellent the room, hotel, lobby, restaurant and elevator was spacious not small or cramp. service was very nice. i requested a microwave in my room after finding out there wasn't one in there and they brought one to me with no extra charge. Now that was a plus
I booked this hotel for my son and daughter-in-law 2 night honeymoon before they left for Aruba
I asked to staff to decorate the room with balloons petals wine and chocolate covered strawberries
They did a beautiful job my kids were so happy to see that upon arrival Ms Sally took care of all the details and made sure it was a great presentation
Our first room was cigarette smoke laden. Little touch ups are needed to not show that the hotel needs remodeling . Several places have scraped paint on doors in bathroom etc
Even elevators had scrapes on the inside doors.
we got our booking on booking.com, the price that was told we would be paying was not the case. they didn’t honor our booking and wouldn’t give us a military discount. not sure we stay here again, I was pretty disappointed
We had to Clean the room Ourselves Before Getting settled in Room. Desk Clerk gave Us vacuum to clean floor. Tub was dirty and Room smell like mildew. Awful experience. People hanging out front building. Eewww❗🙄
Great room. Everything was real clean. It should not cost $150 for 1 night tho no matter what hotel you are. You’re making it unrealistic for average people to use your hotel. Lower price more packed
