Loved walking the campus and seeing familiar buildings as well as a lot of new ones! Still a very beautiful campus!
Enjoyed walking down Illinois St in Carbondale and reminiscing! The old DQ building is still there but the name has changed. We spoke to the owner, Mark, who’s lived there 50 years and he remembered all the places we hung out! He was a walking/living encyclopedia and it was such a joy to speak to him! He even made us a Boston Shake which we have never been able to get anywhere but there!!
He told us to try Quantros Pizza for dinner, which we did, and it was delicious all! It’s located in the same area where one of our old hangouts was, Spudnuts Donut Shop, so it was fun to go there for the memories made in the very same place many decades ago!

The trip to Carbondale was great!
The trip to Carbondale was great! However coming from my meeting back to the room seemed to be more than challenging. The first thing I noticed was the TV had issues and wasn't connecting or showing pictures or sounds. After that episode I went to take a shower and the Shower curtains didn't extend all around to keep water inside of tub but splashed onto the floor(very difficult to shower),finally got out of shower to call front desk and the Room service phone wasn't working (no dial tone),used my personal phone to contact Front Desk. Front desk very busy which meant I had to keep using my phone to make contact with her but to no avail she stated it was nothing she could do being that no management was on duty. The Front desk person apologized promising she would leave my concerns to morning manager to be addressed. Later on that morning during checkout I reiterated what was previously stated because he claimed he couldn't find any notes related to my situation. After all of the chaos another episode begin stated he would turn my complaint over to the manager and someone will be contacting me within an hour, well it's been iver24 hours and no one from the establishment has reached out to me.

We’re in a strip shopping mall placed to eat… The best places were IHOP!! Awesome cooks…and the Applebee’s great cook, bartender.. could have been a little more friendly.. margaritas were great. The people here really don’t like outsiders coming here to work. Sad but true…. I WILL NEVER!!!! Come here to work again. Big mistake. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE PEOPLE THST OWN THIS MOTEL… THEY SRE DOUBLE CHARGING YOUR CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS!!! NO LIE… THEY STARTED OUT AS FRIENDLY… BE AWARE… GO DOWN THR STREET TO THE COMFORT INN OR ANOTHER HOTEL… THIS IS THE TRUTH!!!

Carbondale is one of the best kept secrets in America.
Carbondale is one of the best kept secrets in America. The surrounding area is gorgeous - almost mountainous if you drive out about 30 min. The college is fantastic with its own woods and lake. If fact, it is one of the prettiest colleges I have seen. The town is fairly collegiate with liberal college stuff.....pride flags and vegan restaurants and a few clandestine Marijuana shops - as would be expected from a college town.
Good location, clean
I had initially booked another hotel which fell through (DON’T bother with Quality Inn in Carbondale, it’s AWFUL) and I was able to get a room last minute here.
There was no hot breakfast (sandwiches to warm up and cold options) but that’s understandable with COVID.
I would book a room here again.
Staff were very friendly, and our stay at the hotel was pleasant and enjoyable. Room was clean, and the bed was comfy. The hotel's location in the center of Carbondale was exactly what we were looking for. Hotel breakfast and general facilities were great.
hotel and room had a damp stale smell and windows were sealed so no fresh air. couldn’t get a taxi in Carbondale and Saluki were unhelpful. manager of Hilton by the station took us to the Best Western after his shift ended
In town for SIU graduation. Area hotels were all inflating prices. Comfort Inn was reasonably priced, pet-friendly, and had the most comfortable beds. Counter Staff were super friendly.
