The [public transportation system in Chicago is efficient and relatively clean, and it is easy to get around the city. There is also a plethora of restaurants to eat at, and a multitude of cuisines to choose from!
Starved Rock State Park is fabulous and free. We ate at Water Street Pub and the kids liked it. Able to watch barges go down the Illinois River while you ate.
My husband and I were raised near Chicago and always look forward to returning though our family has scattered. Ease of access to downtown via O Hare and Midway is great. My daughter and I enjoyed staying this time at Hotel Blake near Gino's East for a great pizza night out. Meli Cafe next door in Printer's Row offers wonderful dining options from breakfast through dinner. Sayat Nova Restaurant on Ohio provided a wonderful lunch option for us after a Chicago Architectural tour. Our Illinois hearts remain as supporters of the Art Institute. Millenium Park and Maggie Daley Park are a joy!

I attended the Illinois State Fair which is always a fun week. The Lincoln Sites are outstanding, exp. the Lincoln library. I enjoy a few unique restaurants, Cozy Dog, Maid Rite and Sunrise Dinner. A local donut shop Mel-o-creme are fresh and tasty.
Amazing city. Especially if you decide to walk around town, instead of taking the bus. In a day, I got to see Navy Pier, Millenium Park, walk down Michigan Avenue, visit Ohio Street Beach and walk along Chicago Lakefront Trail. and along some nice streets that otherwise would go unnoticed (like sipping coffee at the Starbuck on East Illinois Street and North McClurg Court, and admiring the nice little townhouses across the channel). Also, the Chicago River Architecture Cruise was amazing, and allowed me to see other parts of Chicago that I wouldn't have otherwise. All in all, it was an amazing two-day visit to Chicago (was in town for Pearl Jam's concert), and I'm really looking forward to repeat the experience in the near future.

Industrial area it seems like. It was okay. Public transportation was scarce. Next time I visit Illinois I more than likely will not come to Franklin Park.
I (really) didn't observe Skokie that much--because it's a north suburb that very close in proximity to my day job (a State Of Illinois office) and I'm usually in that vicinity. However, overall, I enjoy Skokie and thinks it's a cool place--even though (over the last few years) the suburb has become a place where acts of gang violence has grown by leaps and bounds--in comparison to the past. Nonetheless, Skokie is still a great suburb and all suburbs (and their general vicinities) have had their share of crime and violence--to some degree.
1. The hotel is in a very good location in the southern part of the University of Illinois, which is also the safer part of Champaign. My wife and I felt very safe walking around the premises. 2. The room is big and comfortable. There were also complimentary bottled waters and coffee. 3. The room comes with free breakfast, but food choices were limited. 4. Hotel stuff was really friendly and helpful.
Great location plenty of food places near by and a walmart. We were in town to race our horses at the illinois state fairgrounds. This hotel is about 3 Miles away. Pool was clean but a little cold. We had a queen room it was huge! Great water pressure in the shower. Great breakfast. Waffles eggs sausage links Sweet rolls yogurt fruit salad muffins juice. Highly recommend staying here
The General manager Ben was super friendly. The place is very clean and well lit. For a overnite hotel in the middle of Illinois it serves its purpose very well. Clean, comfy bed , great place to do office work in room. Also great place for extended stay. Kitchenette ,in room with little stove and fridge very cute. Ot a resort but it serves its purpose.
Loved the decor of the hotel! Staff very friendly and helpful. Everything was nice and clean! Really nice pool and jacuzzi. Comfy bed and pillows and love the spacious room. Several restaurants and gas stations next door. Right on the Illinois River. Breakfast could of been better but wasn’t awful. Will definitely stay again!
I booked it for my husband for Dad's weekend at University of Illinois. He said there were refreshments when he arrived and that everyone was very nice. It was clean and comfortable and a great location. On my end - I contacted the hotel prior to him arriving and the response was prompt, helpful and kind.
The staff was amazing, Carlos office manager is truly a genuine person. The best hotel I have stayed at ( I travel very often ) would recommend to anyone staying in Schaumburg Illinois. Great job to the staff at Hilton garden. Your friends from Ohio

It was homecoming weekend at Southern Illinois University, so I suspect there was quite a bit of demand for hotel rooms. The Super 8 seemed to be the best deal for the price at that moment. The hotel was well located for my purposes.
It's cheap and is in a good part of the city. Roads around the hotel are excellent, which is strange for Illinois. Worth the stay if you don't really care about where you stay and are there for the city.
Location was good - close to University of Illinois campus, and lots of restaurants and shopping. Breakfast was decent, not much variety, but the food was ok. The staff was very friendly and polite.
We had a wonderful stay this past weekend at the Hyatt near Illinois State University. A very clean and modern hotel with a very helpful staff. The breakfast was very good as well with great coffee!
