Super friendly and professional staff!! The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant is also super great as well! We were lucky to be there for a pool party they’d organize on the roof and it was amazing, a lot of activities (like barber corner, massage corner, tattoo corner…) and good music!

Considered one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal, charming Funchal is the capital of Madeira Island. It is an important base for tourists from all over the world that come to the Madeira hotels, B&B’s and resorts to enjoy their cliffs and beaches, as well as its slopes and colourful towns.
Founded in 1424, its position allowed it to quickly become an important trading harbour, attracting many prominent families. Its mild weather was the beginning of its touristic development in the 18th century, with a therapeutic and health profile.
With the establishment of the port first, and Madeira International/Funchal Airport later, the city grew to become a major destination. Nowadays, the city concentrates most of the hotels, luxury resorts and casinos of Madeira. Accommodation located in Santa Cruz, near Funchal Airport, is also available for those wanting to avoid the rush.
Don’t miss a long walk around Sé historical district, and enjoy the Santa Clara Convent and the Sé Cathedral. The Quinta do Palheiro Ferreiro Park and the Mercado dos Lavradores are also a must.
Whether you need an ocean-view villa or a small guest house, Booking.com offers a wide range of Funchal accommodation.

The old town is very touristy - we ate there one night, but there are lots of great places to eat, some with fabulous views, in other parts of Funchal that aren't as crowded (special mention to Avista and il Vivaldi). We spent most of our time visiting different parts of the island and doing some of the levada walks, which were wonderful. We went in March, and whilst reasonably warm, there was occasional heavy rain - be prepared.

Jardin Botanica is great, but see it BEFORE you see Monte, which somewhat outshines it. Go when there's a festival; like the Atlantic Festival when we were there, It makes it more interesting. Don't expect beaches unless you go to Porto Santo for the day or two. Do go for a 4x4 into the interior too. And go to the Farmers Market the fruit is great, though not necessarilly cheap. The flowers all over Island are magnificent. And DO a Taboggan ride. Unique and worth the price, it's run by a cooperative.

We loved the old part of the Town and enjoyed shopping at the Farmers' Market. The Town was clean and tidy and the people couldn't have been more helpful. Everyone seemed to have a good knowledge of English.
We enjoyed the cable car and generally walking around the Town. Driving was a challenge.

Funchal is beautiful.
Funchal is beautiful. It is extremely clean and full of fruit trees and flowers . The people are incredibly welcoming and kind. The food was amazing. The prices were very reasonable. In some restaurants you could buy an appetizer, entree, drink and dessert for $20 euros. The landscapes were breathtaking .

We’ve visited not only Funchal but all over Madeira.
We’ve visited not only Funchal but all over Madeira. My favorites were the levadas, but I’ve loved to run in the morning uphill in Funchal :).
The city is beautiful but has its poor parts integrated everywhere, I liked that it’s not somewhere separated but it’s a mix of everything. The flora is astonishing and we’ve lived also the food there. Driving around can be a bit unusual at the beginning because of the steep hills and two way streets which barely can fit one car, but you get used to it :).

Food was good and cheap
Transport great
Yellow bus was only regret
Should have used local buses
They go everywhere
People very friendly
Funchal easy to get around on foot.
Loved the market
Great atmosphere and beautiful flowers and an amazing variety of fruit
You must try the toboggan ride!
Never seen anything like it
A family owned hotel apartment, the owner is a sweet man that takes care of you from the moment you arrive, till the last moment you leave the property. They bring fresh bread to your door every morning, they recommend you the best local restaurants. My tip: let the owner tell you where to go and where to eat, then you will enjoy Madeira from the local point of view and not instagram and bloggers!
P.s: the sea view balcony is a blessing and although you are in Funchal , you’re still away from punks and drunk tourists!
Hotel is new and very stylish, I would even prefer it to the neighbouring 5 star ones of the same hotel chain. Ocean suit has great ocean view even on a not high floor. Be careful if you travel not with a partner, as bathroom is not private. We definitely liked that the hotel has 2 swimming pools, one rooftop, with bar/cafe areas and possibility to order beer/milkshake to the pool, sun beds, towels, tents included. There is exit to ocean from one of the pools, but no sandy beech (Madeira actually has not many of them).
Property is very well located near the centre of Funchal, much nearer than most of the other 4/5 star hotels in the hotel zone which are both further away and typical up a few steep hills. It had excellent amenities such as great restaurant, pool, spa treatments and attentive staff. Breakfast buffet was top notch. We were also upgraded to a Junior Suite.
The hotel itself backs onto a shopping centre, which proved extremely useful for picking up last minute holiday bits (sun cream, socks, pharmacy etc)
Great, quiet place in the hills above Funchal. The parking is on the dead end street close to the house.Small, cozy house feels like home. There is a good size well equipped kitchen with the dining area. We like large Madeira map on the wall. the balcony is accessible from the bedroom and has a stunning view of the city and the ocean. We could walk down to Funchal in about 20 min. Walking back is a uphill hike, but it is possible to take a bus. Easy communication with the owner.
Tucked away in the perfect area about 10mins walk from the old town. The staff were EXCEPTIONALLY helpful and friendly, Nuno planned our trip for us after we struggled to get a hire car. The room was lovely with really lovely products. If the weather had been nice we would have sat out on the beautiful terrace amongst the well kept flowers overlooking Madeira. They also served breakfast at any time. I will be recommending this hotel to anyone I know visiting Madeira without fail.
This is a well run hotel and you can tell this by and mostly the staff training and the genuine service! Very willing and helpfull on any request... even a couple of days after check out! Super quality facilities, ideally located in the middle of everything in Funchal, spacious rooms, suberb value for money. The free on-spot parking and the hip and trendy roof top pool bar were the icing on the cake! Higly reccomended. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else next time in Madeira.
- good location, close to the ocean, old town, the port, the bus terminal and shops;
- Topázio apartment is very modern and stylish in the recently renovated building;
- all systems in the apartment were functioning properly except the alarm system;
- silent elevator;
- personnel from Hotel Madeira that manages apartments is very responsive;
- early check-in was very helpful;
- supplementary bottle of wine an a cake on arrival were very nice.
Perfect Old Town location! Easy walking distance to a parking garage. Woke up each morning to an accordion player outside our balcony. Steps from the cathedral and many shops and restaurants. The host was friendly and accommodating. Apartment was immaculate and the kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy cooking our own meals and enjoying coffee in the morning. Nice, hot shower and cold AC. This apartment is everything you need in Madeira.
Two pools, one near sea and access to the water. Restaurant fine with standard Madeiran cuisine. Western edge of hotel district and access to plenty of restaurants within 20 minutes walk and good location generally. Charming setting and gardens give a character set apart from the many soulless mega hotels in western Funchal. Generally friendly staff. Very good value for money, was half the price of similar options at the time of booking
What an amazing hotel! The staff are so friendly and helpful, the service is fantastic. What you get included exceeds the price you paid as this is a stunning hotel with beautiful interior throughout. Location is great, right in the centre only a 5 minute walk from the sea front. The roof top bar and pool.. oh wow! Incredible views. Me and my family were so impressed we'd love to stay here again when we next visit Madeira.
We loved our stay in Madeira, the apartment was in a great location, near the Botanical garden and the view to the ocean was spectacular.
The hosts welcomed us upon our arrival, he presented the apartment, the facilities and he provided us a list of suggested restaurants. They are all great!
The communication was great, everything was great.
Thank you very much for all your effort and implication.
Beautiful quinta located near to the old town, with a lovely garden surrounded by a banana plantation, passion fruit and papaja trees, looking at the ocean. The owner and his family were extremely friendly and helpful and told us a lot about Madeira, Funchal and the history of the property. A nice bakery and small grocery store at walking distance.
Everything, the room with an unexpected kitchen area, the balcony the great selection at breakfast, the pool, the outdoor area and the bar area.
Also the bus stop is right outside so only 10-15 minutes into central Funchal and a lot of the tours pick up from outside the hotel too.
When I return to Madeira I will definitely stay here again.
Moradia Vista Atlântico’s owners were probably one of the most hospitable people ever. Their place is clean, comfortable and simply amazing. Ending the night in their little spa was the perfect way to relax after a long day. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Madeira, I highly recommend it.
Thank you again for everything!!
Great location just a short walk from the old town in Funchal. Buses easy to access as well. Somewhat steep hill going up to the hotel with no sidewalk, but easily managed and completely worth it. Beautiful pool and view, as well as a lovely breakfast every morning. Receptive and friendly staff as well.
Everything was amazing, be it service, staff, facilities, room service .... and for the price it was definitely more than worth - Definitely revisiting
Plus the location is all you could ask for, super close to Funchal, Lido and Forum Madeira (everything is basically at walking distance)
Everything was outstanding - the location, the villa, the Infinity pool, the friendliness of the staff, communication with owners. Ideally placed a short - uphill - walk from Funchal old town/centre. The walk back up after an evening helped to burn off the holiday calories! We will be back.
The hotel is super close to everything, including the marina and main street of Funchal. It's location is perfect, especially for first time visitors of Madeira. The staff is nice, helping the guests to have a great stay. The pool is fine, but a bit small.
Loved the view from our room, the bottle of Madeira wine and candy, and the general ambience of the hotel! Staff were very helpful regarding recommendations for nearby restaurants and activities.
The location was perfect....easy access to the town of Funchal, parking, and a wonderful cafe/bar steps away to enjoy at all hours. I'll certainly stay again on my next visit to Madeira!!
