A lovely pleasent stay here. The woman on reception was very friendly for check in. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were spotless. Shower was great, warm and good pressure. The location is also top notch, 5 mins walk and you are right in the centre of Funchal. There was no issue leaving my bag in storage for a few hours after check out. Absolutely worth the price!

Santa Maria Staff is super pleasant and helpful!
The hostel is really good, clean, the fridge is being kept in good condition (no much leftovers after people who left).
Really beautiful living room area, well equipped kitchen for basic cooking.
Be aware that windows face the popular street so in the evening it’s noisy - not a problem for me, but for light sleepers - could be.

Met a lot of nice people there!
You have to shop and prepare meals for yourself, but no worries, there’s a little shop up on the street, about 10 min walking, or if you need a bigger store you’ll find Pingo in Funchal.
Boasting a garden, shared lounge, terrace and free WiFi, Jaca Hostel Porto da Cruz is set in Porto da Cruz, 100 metres from Alagoa Beach and 100 metres from Maiata Beach.
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
The hotel is in a great location, 5 min walking to the ocean and public beach, Lido promenade with incredible views. Bus 9 goes directly from/to the airport. Own pool with nice terrace with ocean view. Very good breakfast! Lots of shops and restaurants around. Safe box was for free.
I don’t even know where to begin… The accomodation was great, with a private kitchen and bathroom. Spacious, clean, good beds, quiet area. The outdoor patio was nice, with separate seating areas and a pool with loungers. It was a 20 minute steep down/up hill walk to the city centre, but with a bus stop next door. Overall great location. But what made it fantastic were the hosts. They were all I could want for my first solo vacation. A little chat here, a safety check there, really really awesome people. Definitely recommend staying here!!
Great little place, doesn’t have a vibe of a hostel so great for people who are on a budget but not so social, two owners are really nice and helpful, they keep the place very clean. Location is very central, few mins walk to everything you need. Great showers.
Wifi was fine for working but did sometimes cut of for a minute (209.1 Mbps download, 10.9 Mbps upload), the annoying thing was that every floor has a different wifi network. I had unlimited data but there was barely any signal on the patio to be able to use it.
Great value for money with a parking space. Wouldn't really expect anything else for what we paid as it was just a base and we were rarely there.
Washing machine is great for going back home with clean clothes.
Beds were super comfy but do drift apart when pushed together as someone else also said.
Clean bedding and towels.
Great location and great host. Very helpful.
Overall decent for anyone wanting a base and on a budget!
Well organized space. Really helpful and nice stuff! Clean. Good place to stay on Funchal for few nights.
Nice outdoor space to spend evenings or to eat meals.
Good bed.
BEST hostel ive been.
I had recently stayed 5 nights in 29 Madeira Hostel. It was a truly fantastic experience. First and foremost, the staff are exceptional, especially Andrea with her genuine willingness to assist with any inquiries or concerns. The dormitory rooms were clean, comfortable, well-maintained and the beds were cozy. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cleanliness maintained throughout the hostel, including the shared bathrooms and common areas. Great location within walking distance of major attractions, restaurants, and public transportation.
Look i gotta be honest, it wasn't what I expected.
The pics definitely are not updated and they are far different from reality, but it was cheap, really good location and besides, I met people I consider my friends for life.
We were all surprised about the hostel and the way it looked but we finally made fun of the situation and it was really safe
We met in the common area at nights we made together and overall I would say in terms of money, if I go to Madeira again I would stay there again no matter what
Very friendly staff! Great location central Funchal. They have coffee and tea included. Great experience in this hostel. It's clean and they are flexible with your check in time. Their transport shuttle is nice and cheaper than a taxi and the drivers are very polite.
Great location in the city centre close to everything you need. Surprisingly comfortable bunk beds in male dormitory room. The price is unbeatable. A reasons to choose this one again if decide to come back for another visit.
