Even though we arrived a little early the managers allowed us to check in which was amazing as it was starting to rain and for us to get into our accommodation was wonderful for us. The room was great and the instructions on how to use the appliances was really a great extra.

Lady Bowen Bed & Breakfast, hotel in Thames

Lady Bowen Bed and Breakfast is a 155 year old hotel and is listed as a Category 2 building on the New Zealand Heritage List.

You can find a small paradise with very kindly host . It is a historic house with new standard . I got a perfect breakfast for all my wishes . My quiet room looks very elegance , it has a cozy bed and every day fresh towels. The separate toilets and showers where clean and fresh. I could use the big terrace and sit in the garden . From the hotel it is not far to the coast or in the city with several shops . Thank You for the beautiful time .

Town on the river with lovely waterside walks / wetlands and historic town; entrance to the Coromandel. Surrounded by bush walks and gold-mining history. Volunteer run museums. Turkish express was an awesome casual eatery.

The AMBERS Accommodation was fabulous, it had everything that we needed for our stay, all the breakfast supplies were there from the yoghurt to the cereals, milk, toaster with bread and all the condiments too. The beds were very comfortable as was the lounge area TV was ok lovely gardens and the hosts Sue and her Hubby, were very accomodating, nothing too hard for them. The area had a number of attractions including the old gold mine. Lots of shops in the town. Just a great little place to spend a few relaxing days. We highly recommend a visit to Thames and look at staying at The Ambers, its well worth it..

Thames is a quiet town with quite a few coffee shops and a good variety of stores to browse. The supermarket (Pack & Save) was close to where we were staying. There are several locations close to Thames that are worth a visit The Gold mine just north of town Cathedral beach and the hot water beach are worth the time to check out. A scenic drive up to Coramandel town is interesting. Just be careful on the narrow sea side road. Enjoy

Didnt know which cafe to choose, but this one had a lot of people in it, so we chose this one.Hot chocolate cafe. The big breakfast and the pancakes were delicious. Quaint, busy little township, just caught the tail end of the market. We stumbled on another cafe further up, which sold this devine louise cake & caramel wheaty slice. Yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed the Nakontong Thai restaurant for dinner too.

We liked the little cabin because we have everything we need there, beds, kitchen, fridge and our own bathroom. Perfect for when you travel with little kids. We have a good time there, just bad weather and sick kids, not the best combination but we enjoyed as much as we could. It is a great playgorund in the property and another in Thames, just at 10 minutes drive, my little one loved both!
