The AMBERS Accommodation was fabulous, it had everything that we needed for our stay, all the breakfast supplies were there from the yoghurt to the cereals, milk, toaster with bread and all the condiments too. The beds were very comfortable as was the lounge area TV was ok lovely gardens and the hosts Sue and her Hubby, were very accomodating, nothing too hard for them. The area had a number of attractions including the old gold mine. Lots of shops in the town. Just a great little place to spend a few relaxing days. We highly recommend a visit to Thames and look at staying at The Ambers, its well worth it..

Thames is a quiet town with quite a few coffee shops and a good variety of stores to browse. The supermarket (Pack & Save) was close to where we were staying. There are several locations close to Thames that are worth a visit The Gold mine just north of town Cathedral beach and the hot water beach are worth the time to check out. A scenic drive up to Coramandel town is interesting. Just be careful on the narrow sea side road. Enjoy

Breakfast was offered but I declined as I was not a breakfast man. The location was awesome. Views were beautiful. The birds were singing all day long. Lodge hid itself within the beautify hills of Thames but only and yet 30 seconds later you're in the city. Depending on where you stand the view could be the seashore through the big trees or the lush hills and lovely bush. Easy access to my room. Warren and Jeweline (hosts) were very welcoming.

The property is a beautifully maintained gold rush era hotel. Stu and Barbara were very welcoming and a glass of wine was just what I needed after a tough day of driving. The complimentary breakfast was also lovely. It was a shame I only spent one night at a place with such character and old world charm.
