Hawea Hotel, hotel in Wanaka

Hawea Hotel is located just 15 minutes' drive from the township of Wanaka and is set on the lake front of Lake Hawea.

We were able to spend a happy moment looking out at the unexpected million dollar view of Lake Hawea from the room. There was a moderately sized veranda with wooden chairs and a table, making it a great place to relax and enjoy the view. The restaurant in the hotel had a great view, was spacious, the staff was friendly, and the food was delicious.

A quick visit so insufficient information to write much about the town, but the lake was beautiful, as was the drive to Cardrona and of course over Crown Range. The town has expanded massively since I last visited about 20 years ago - it has lost some of its previous small-town feel but still a very nice place to visit

I love absolutely everything about Wanaka.

I love absolutely everything about Wanaka. The views, walks, bike rides etc.. all so amazing!!! Amazing wineries (as you would expect). Only a very short drive to Cardrona snowfields. All the pubs, cafes and restaurants are awesome. We went to Kika for dinner one of the nights, 5 STARS, OMG it was crazy good. The people and staff are all so great as well. 100% recommend everything about Wanaka - and in summer go swimming in the lake :)

Beautiful lake views and mountain scenery.

Beautiful lake views and mountain scenery. Sunset cruise on the lake is a must to catch those stunning sunsets. Highly recommend Kai Whakapai for breakfast/brunch. Wānaka Hotel is great, location is perfect, rooms are a good size and clean.

Wanaka is a very pretty place, but it has become a mini Queenstown. It is so busy with tourists and camper vans. The shops in town centre are all very pricey and tourist oriented, accomodation is expensive. It was shoulder season but still busy. We ate at Big Fig Wanaka, Relishes Cafe and Federal Diner. We enjoyed the food caravans esp Charlie Browns & Dripping Bowl Cocktails at Water Bar were excellent. The best food experience was Bistro Gentil. 5 star service and food was out of this world. Definitely a place to go back to but not for budget priced meals!

The lake frontage with stunning views of the mountains and lake and choices of eateries catering for vegetarians Good parking but roadworks made it difficult at times to get around Would recommend the Big Fig for vegetarians and Charlie Brown for great crepes

We were amazed by the location near the lake with clean air, nice ambience in the Hotel Restaurant, with good food! I should have reserved 2 or 3 nights there. We booked 3 rooms all of us enjoyed it. Can swim, water activities and more.

Great studio living with everything you needed for a relaxing holiday. Bonuses were: the equipped kitchen (hob, pans, toaster, kettle, microwave, small fridge), I was thinking a small kitchenette but was happily surprised; the private lawn space to chill outside; the great shower water pressure. We knew the location wasn't in town but that suited us fine. I would choose this accommodation again over a hotel or lodge in the same price range.

We had a premium suite in a section of the hotel that had recently been refurbished. The quality of the decor and furnishings was very high and the lounge area had a beautiful view of the lake. The location was close to the lake and about a 20-25 minute walk to the centre of town. Reception staff were friendly and helpful with advice about restaurants and activities.

Really love the hotel and also the staffs are so nice. the location of hotel also a bit near to some bars and lake. For the room, we rent the family type one.The room it self also a bit spacious and clean and they also have electric blanket which my parents like. If you like to cook by your self, they have some cooking utensils like whisks, knife, stove as well

This was a SPECTACULAR home away from home, close to town with magnificent views of the lake and snow capped mountains. It felt like a home not a hotel, and we were so comfortable for our stay in Wanaka. The beds were comfy, it was warm and had everything we needed.
