Suitable for one or maybe two nights.
Suitable for one or maybe two nights. There's a shop, petrol station, bakery and lots of parking as well as the hotel and restaurant. Nice outdoor areas and a camp site and the sunsets were great! Food and drinks are well priced at around 200NAD for a meal, 22NAD for a beer and 150NAD for a bottle of wine. Gifts in the shop are slightly more expensive than we saw elsewhere but not loads. Wooden bowls for 195NAD was the same as in the market in Windhoek. There is a reserve and they have 5 cheetahs who are cared for as they were taken in as cubs due to circumstances. Well cared for and seeminly content. Game drive to visit them was around 370NAD each.

We stayed at Agama Lodge for 3 nights and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. The luxury room was superb, aircon most wellcome, the food was good and the pool was a gift from heaven.
We enjoyed the delicious food. The staff was friendly, always available and very friendly. The sundowner drive was the highlight. We can only but highly recommend Agama Lodge to anyone travelling to Sossusvlei.

Solitaire is just the general area near the Sossusvlei dune area of Namib-naukluft National Park. We didn't spend much time there but it's a beautiful area but it's very hot this time of year (37-41°C during the day)

Solitaire has the famous cafe, with coffee and apple pie.
Solitaire has the famous cafe, with coffee and apple pie. There is also a lodge at Solitaire same owner as the Solitaire Farm. There is a petrol station, (absolutely essential) and a small supply shop with a few basics, but no fresh products. A very limited supply of pharmaceutical products. The Road to Solitaire is pretty good (dirt) but the road after Solitaire, to the dunes, is pretty rough, and not recommended at night. You need to go between 60 - 80 kilometres an hour and often use 4 wheel drive.

Solitaire was our stop over on the way to Dune 45.
Solitaire was our stop over on the way to Dune 45. We had great fun driving off road and watching the landscape ever so slightly changing.
Solitaire is the place to get fuel for the 4 x 4 and the soul. Huge apple pie slices fresh out of the oven and delicious hot coffee. The slow pace of Solitaire adds to the atmosphere and landscape, there is no rush and one can check out the rusted cars in between the sand and the windmill.
Solitaire is a fascinating place. Although we've stopped in there every time we visit Namibia, we've never actually overnighted there. A good experience. The Lodge gardens etc are beautiful, and the staff looked after us well. Thank you.
