Very nice guesthouse, well maintained, with a beautiful garden and, above all, a very pleasant welcome. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. On the second day of our stay we took a day tour organized by the guesthouse. In retrospect, this was one of the most wonderful days of our four-week trip through Malaysia.

The highlight of this stay is the staff - the owner and his family are wonderful people that will do everything they can to make you feel welcome and nice during the stay. Comfy beds and clean linen and towels. There is no AC in the rooms, but there is a large working fan and a generous mosquito net. You can also buy a 2l cold water bottle for 2RM. The property is a very short walk away from the pier and several eateries and mini-marts in the area.

Tahan Guest House, hotel in Kuala Tahan

Nestled within private gardens, Tahan Guest House offers accommodations in Kuala Tahan. Free WiFi is available in public areas.

Nice location, clean room, affordable. You can book your bus/boat tickets to Kuala Lumpur or book taman negara tour at the reception at no extra cost. The place is well maintained. I wish they had meal services with additional fees (there are several restaurants nearby, but I was very tired to walk and it often rained). Room was of decent size. Bed was on the harder side, but was okay for me. Pressure of water in the shower was acceptable.

The night hikes were back to back groups so with crowds and noise no chance of seeing animals. You definitely should bring your own torch as you can't see where you are stepping and there are some slippery spots. Personally wouldn't do again. The canopy was nice albeit very narrow with only 4 allowed on it at a time. You are not allowed to stop or take photographs. Having to focus on my footing and not being able to stop and look makes it just going for a walk. Going through the rapids and getting wet is accomplished by guide literally rocking boat. The stop at village was the best part of trip. Fascinating how fire was started and the use of blow gun which we go to try.

Kuala Tahan is a nice little village with just a few shops and restaurants. But of course the main thing to do is to go to the national park. We choose to do a one day tour, which we really enjoyed. You cross the river and there is the entrance where you get your permit. They inform you about everything and everyone was very nice. I really recommend doing a tour because you learn a lot about nature and living in the rainforest. The canopy walk was also so beautiful! You can do some things on your own however, for most of the trails you need a guide to accompany you. There were some challenging parts about the hike. You need to be fit to hike up and down in the humid climate. But it was a very nice challenge and I would recommend it to everyone! If you want to eat out I recommend the floating restaurants down by the river. The people are really friendly and welcoming and the food is good, for a fair price!

We stayed 3 nights and had 2 days to explore which was fine to do both some day and night walks in the jungle as well as a river trip to the small waterfall. Crossing the river to actually get to the jungle site is very easier. You just go down to one of the floating restaurants and ask them to take you across. Fees are fixed at 1 RMB per person. Your entrance permit is valid for all days so make sure to keep it with you at all times - also when doing river cruises.

Like the staff! All very nice and helpful.

Like the staff! All very nice and helpful. We also had laundry done for seven people and it came back in a day and was very clean and organized. You can book excursions right from the lodge. You can drink the water, so would have liked a large water container to fill up on our own. They left two small bottles a day, but that is not enough and we had to purchase water. Good selection at breakfast. Bathroom was always hot, as no windows, just open to the wild, so had to keep door closed at all times.

    Love the jungle.

Love the jungle. Fab eco forest. 4 days would be enough as quite limited trails/walking. Small village that offered limited restaurants- 3 - and the 4 shops sell mostly the same limited stuff, so you do need to take supplies. No animals seen, they keep quiet which is fine, it’s their territory. It is quaint tho, and enjoyed my time there. Would certainly recommend a visit.

Great clean home accommodation with an excellent host. We had everything we needed for 3 nights. An excellent breakfast was available. The accommodation is a little further from the entrance to the park, but it has a beautiful view of the river and the forest. We didn't have a car, but Luka drove us when we needed. He also provided us with trips through the jungle, which were great. if I came to Taman Negara again, I would definitely stay here again.

We definitively enjoyed our stay at Asia Camp Taman Negara Resort. The staff was extremely helpful and always available; the shuttle service to the village was very helpful. The activities you can book via the hotel are all right and well organized. The rooms are contructed with private entrance. We were even upgraded to a room with private bathroom, which was really nice.

beautifully maintained and well located guesthouse near the Taman Negara entry. We rented the cottage next to the guesthouse which is ideal for a family; good double bed and a bunk bed. Good breakfast and freshly cooked dinner served under a canopy in the lush garden. The owners have a great network in the local community, so use their advice for trips!
