Air con, boardwalk, abundant food (too much!), view of river from restaurant, friendly staff, abundant wildlife and proximity to jungle

I would give a score 20 if I could :) I found this place a bit by coincidence and I honestly could not have made a better choice for my stay at the Kinabatangan river. The lodge is near to the river and I felt relaxed and at ease from the first moment I arrived. The rooms have just been renovated and are good value for money. Don’t expect luxury - you are in the midst of the jungle after all - but they are really decent, clean and far better quality than previous jungle accommodations I had in other places. All the meals are included and you will get plenty of delicious fingerlicking homecooked food. I was welcomed with the greatest hospitality by Linda. She is such a lovely and passionate person and cares a whole lot about the lodge and her guests. She will absolutely go the extra mile to be sure that her guests have the greatest experience. I also met the owner of the place who is a very kind and respectful man. I loved the fact that this is a very warm and personalised experience where you get to know a few other people without ending up in a big group. As for the wildlife we saw plenty of beautiful birds, lots of proboscis (and other) monkeys, even orangutans and a mesmerising experience with elephants coming up close to the lodge. It was absolutely phenomenal and I can most certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit a bit of the jungle in Borneo.

The activities they offer are fantastic, and they do their best to adjust to our needs. The surroundings are also pretty great.

Excellent location

I was actually impressed with this place. There was a lot of very similar lodges in Sukau all offering the same tours and they were seemingly much more expensive, this village is one of the main hubs for tours on the Kinabatangan River. I recommend contacting them to get the 3D/2N package which was good value. They organised me a firefly tour for the night before specially as a solo traveller and the pick-ups and drop offs were seamless. This is next to the river with a relatively large shop right next to it which was very useful. Very wholesome home cooked food provided in big quantities. I was sorry to leave. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and there was always hot water in the shower, air con worked well.

Excellent staff. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Very well organised. Rooms comfortable and have everything you need. Food good at all mealtimes.

Everything was great, we loved our stay and didn’t want to leave at all! We were picked up by our gracious host who told us a lot about Borneo. After ascending the 600 step stairs, the view from the restaurant was amazing. Furthermore we saw a lot of wildlife on the boat trips!
