The staff receiving us was very friendly and jokeful, however, disorganised.
We were received with a dry "I need your passports" responding to our "Good Morning!"
They couldn't find our reservation, looking through the same stack of printed ones for several times, instead of just printing it out from his system (which he did eventually).
Although this was a cold welcome, he was very playful with the situation and cleared the heavy atmosphere of the reception.

Please please please do not stay here. Save yourself the trouble and stay literally anywhere else. This place is disgusting, the rooms you see in the pictures are not accurate. The only dorm option they have are 16 beds.
During our stay, they moved our stuff from or beds (!) without our permission while we were out in the city. When we got back, we were told to move to the top bunks on the third floor which were covered with gross debris from the disintegrating ceiling. No other option was given and we had to leave and find a place to stay for the night. I had to call the venice police to come help.
It doesn't matter what you booked, you will be staying in a non-air-conditioned room with 15 other people. I know it says there is air conditioning in the posting: that is a blatant lie. They will take your money and tell you there is nothing to be done. The owners are liars who have no concern for your well-being.
Thanks for reading if you stuck around this long. I hope you heed my warning. If you don't, good luck! Hope your experience is better than ours was

Venice is one of those places you should go to at least once.
Wonderful unique city; historic palaces, churches, grand buildings, museums. Great food, hospitality staff are generally very polite and welcoming. Boat trips to Murano and Burano and other islands, cheap and available via the vaporretti.
Unique opportunities, gondola rides, Harry's Bar, Fondaco dei Tedeschi, St Mark's Basilica, Doges Palace, water taxi speed boats, including from the airport; cookery lessons.
Easy to get round by public water bus, easy trip by bus from the airport. Large railway terminus easy to go to other places in Italy.
Downsides - it is BUSY! Expect to get squashed onto the waterbuses at most times. Tourism hotspots like Rialto Bridge, St Mark's Square etc, lots of people and tours happening. Book popular places and there were advantages to booking restaurants, due to seating arrangements. Some have terraces/gardens worth asking.
Worth seeking out less touristy restaurants in the districts, we stayed Cannaregio, quieter and more open. Seek out the greenspaces, there are a few about, shadier and quieter.
Recommend Venice Cooking School

We were made to feel very welcome in Venice, a unique and superb destination. The cicchetti were a revelation, an extremely cost effective way to eat in Venice and if you find some good ones, very delicious (go to Arcicchetti Bakaro in Santa Croce) and the bar opposite the gondola repair shop in Duosodoro.

This is my second visit to Venice and I really enjoyed myself. You can wander and just get lost in the city and discover shops and lovely small restaurants and wine bars. I love the evenings when the crowds are less and this is a great time for a Gondola ride. We had previously seen the Doge Palace and St Marks Cathedral and if you want to enjoy these sights do them early. We elected to have drinks at the Longhi Bar at the Gritti Palace as the views are amazing. The cocktails are hand crafted and very good but are not cheap. We then has diner at Gio's in the St Regis Hotel which was a great meal with stunning views. I would highly advice a cicchetti stroll. These are bite sized (or 2 bites) snacks which typically have fish or meats on them. My favorites are All 'Arco and cantina Do Mori. Whatever you do, enjoy this unique city and what it has to offer.

This was my 5th visit to Venice, the first being in 1978.
This was my 5th visit to Venice, the first being in 1978. Sadly (and I realise I am part of the problem) it is now chronically overrun by tourists so would caution visitors to anticipate crowds and queues at the sights. But ... it remains a most beguiling city that is utterly unique. Get up early in the morning, enjoy the sunrise and watch this fascinating place come to life. Walk away from the crowds later in the day and you will be blessed with many fascinating sights just a stone's throw away from the hordes in San Marco. La Serenissima may not be all that serene these days, but plan carefully and her beauty will be revealed to you. It's all about the timing.
This apartment was amazing! Spacious, clean, comfortable beds, and lots of natural light. Cristina, the owner, is very friendly and resourceful in providing recommendations while in Venice. Our family really enjoyed staying here.
Huge plus - dryer with the washer. Finding a dryer in Italy is almost impossible, so this was huge for me traveling with children, especially when it rained.
Location - the best! Short walk to the Rialto vaporetto stop, short walk to Doges Palace area. Best location! Could get anywhere in Venice in 20mins or less.
Mostly the value for money in a place like Venice. It's far from the most luxurious place you'll stay in and it's also a decent walk to the main attractions, but you really do get what you pay for. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom served it's purpose, although the shower was a bit small. Hot water was consistent the whole time which is a huge bonus for budget hotels in Italy. The artwork on the walls was a nice touch too. A great place to stay if you're on a budget and don't mind walking a bit.
This was by far the best hotel we stayed in during our Trip to Italy. You can't beat the location of Bauer Palazzo. The lobby is right in front of all the designer shopping in Venice but also in tucked away enough that the foot traffic isn't too heavy in front of the hotel. The hotel bar is right on the Grande Canal so we enjoyed having a cocktail out there before dinner. The room was very spacious (particularly for a hotel room in Italy). It is also a very short walk to St. Mark's Square.
The location is excellent. Even though you can find accommodation in Venice for cheaper costs, one should remember that the city is quite busy and walking around can get pretty tiring. We were incredibly happy that we could go back to our place in the center whenever we felt like getting some rest or just dropping packages from shops. Also, the breakfast is probably the best one could expect in Italy cause you get not only cold but also hot options.
one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Staff were exceptional - so kind and friendly. the location was excellent, quiet, but walking distance to all main attractions. room was beautiful, really nicely decorated with all facilities you could want plus the best shower ever! breakfast was amazing. I would recommend this hotel to everyone staying in Venice, especially as it was a fraction of the price of other 5 star hotels nearby.
Our favorite apt from our trip to Italy. Great quiet, safe, location walking distance to all the sites. Full apartment with traditional furnishings, ac in each room, full kitchen and laundry facilities. We loved it and felt like we were temporary residents of Venice instead of tourists. Helpful host with clear instructions for entering apartment. Safe area with restaurants nearby and convenient to water busses.
The perfect place, I mean location, but see below "What didn't you like". It is just around ten minutes of walk to square of Saint Mark.
A lot of cafeterias and restaurants around. "Coop" convenient store is nearby, around five minutes of walk, where you can buy almost everything you need.
The warmest hotel I visited during my trip to Italy. Really the temperature in room was quite comfortable for January.
We traveled with a company to different cities in Italy and there were some problems in every hotel. Finally, everything worked in this hotel and there was even air conditioning! Everything you need in the kitchen to prepare dinner. Spacious bathroom and shower, stable hot water. The hotel located just right to the canal and the bridge - I stood and drank coffee there a couple of times, very lovely.
A fantastic beautiful hotel. Centrally located. Exceptionally clean and excellent speedy customer interaction. Prices in April very reasonable for such fabulous location and luxury. Breakfast the best ever had in Italy. Comfy huge beds, marble bathrooms and historic Italian decor. Take the water taxi from the airport right to the hotel. Amazing. Definitely recommend and would return
Great stuff, Great room Cleanliness and the best is Great View on Grand Canal. Hotel have direct access from Canal you can get from airport or train station with boat taxi straight to Hotel from Canal.
You can book in Hotel Gondola Ride straight from Hotel with Glass of Prosecco.
Definitely when we back to Venice we will back to this Hotel was a pleasure to stain in this Hotel
Very nice and quiet location. Ideal for exploring Venice and jumping into the life of a local. A true Venetian neighbourhood.
The owners are lucky to have such a host like Fabio in the Locanda. He makes your stay feel like home. Open for any questions and giving advice. Because of him and the personal touch this was one of the best hotel/b&b experiences in Italy for us.
Very professional and helpful staff, who gave us all the information we needed at check-in. The room was private with a very comfortable bed - we had the best sleep we’ve had in Italy! The hotel is located in a quiet area, close to all of the attractions, but charming and not full of tourists. Breakfast buffet was also well stocked and had many delicious options.
Accomodation is located in the Jewish Ghetto of Venice. Easy 10 minute walk from main train terminal to apartment or 1 stop on the ferry. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean and had a nice view of the canal from both bedrooms. Water pressure in the shower was the best we found whilst in Italy.
It is definitely one of the best hotels not only in Venice but also in Italy. The staff was very kind and helpful. They gifted us chocolate and free drinks. The rooms are very clean and well-designed. The breakfast was also delicious. Terrace was beautiful with a gorgeous view.
Out of all the hotels I’ve stayed in Italy (All of them have higher stars than this one) - this one is the best as they provide kettle, biscuits and tea bags. The bathroom is clean and new. The staff was very friendly too.
Location and hotel staff. The owner’s Father was absolutely wonderful - gave lots of great recommendations for my trip in Italy and also in Venice. The room was large, comfortablw and clean - perfect.
the best hotel service I had in Italy. Staffs were all kind and 24 hours ready. accomodation was great and as well as the location. There's taxi(boat) station right in front of hotel.
The room was nice, the location was fantastic and the breakfast was awesome. The coffee taste just the way I won't it and it's the best of all hotel I stayed in Italy.
the suite was beautiful, the staff was so friendly, they had their own cafe, everything was perfect. Better than any other hotel we stayed at in Italy.
