Accessible to station, friendly and cooperative staff
Located just across the lagoon from the Venetian islands, Mestre is the mainland part of Venice and offers cheaper accommodation, with easy transport links to the historic centre. However, the city has more than just cheap hotels going for it.
Host to several festivals throughout the year, huge Parco San Giuliano offers fantastic views across the lagoon towards the Campanile and dome of St Mark’s Cathedral. Also worth a wander round is Forte Marghera, a former Austrian fortress on an island in the middle of star-shaped canals. One canal continues into the centre of the city and is lined with restaurants and bars.
Pavement cafes can also be found in Piazza Ferretto, a triangular square with a 12th-century clock tower at one end and the Teatro Toniolo at the other. This popular spot for a passegiata also has a modern fountain and several boutiques. Also good for shopping in Mestre is the Le Barche centre, a rather uninspiring building from the outside, but packed full of stores.
As for nightlife, Mestre has a number of clubs, including one at Tessera near to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Don’t fly out of there without having tried the little homemade cakes called ‘mignon’.

Mestre is an easy commute into Venice, hotels are much cheaper in Mestre compared to Venice and restaurants in Mestre are more affordable. The train journey only takes 10 minutes into Venice. Transport links to the airport like the bus takes 18 minutes and run frequently. Mestre itself is a pleasant town with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Michelle’s restaurant near the train station has excellent food and cheerful staff, affordable but the quality was outstanding.

Mestre is a pleasant town with all the facilities you could require.
It is well worth visiting some of the sites as well as being a base for going to Venice which is only 20 minutes away by bus or tram.
There are bars and restaurants for all budgets and they tend to be cheaper than Venice itself. The airport is very nearby with easy travel options into Mestre.

Not that much to see there, but it can be a good pit stop from all the business of the Venice island. Good spot for oriental food restaurants if you fancy a break from typical Italian dishes. Quite safe to walk around, some nice green spots among a rather industrial neighbourhood.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner with professionalism. He was kind and gave us all the directions and information for the cultural attractions in the area. They were very helpful for our stay. The bus goes directly to Venice and has a stop 150 meters from the apartment. The apartment perfectly corresponds to the description on Booking. It is tastefully decorated. It also has a terrace, where you can have breakfast in front of a beautiful garden full of greenery. The apartment is well-equipped with an electric oven and a microwave oven. It is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. On request, you can additionally get a very comfortable folding bed for an adult. The cleanliness is impeccable everywhere.

The convenience and economy of staying in Mestre and...
The convenience and economy of staying in Mestre and daytripping to Venice at your leisure are definitely worth it. After using the crowded water bus service or overpriced water taxis and traversing very narrow, crowded streets and multiple bridges by foot in Venice, doing so with luggage and other bags (and children) to get to your hotel is a major ordeal. Your experiences in Venice are not diminished by starting and ending your day less than a half-hour away from Venice.

It is perfect for visiting Venice.
It is perfect for visiting Venice. Mestre has a wealth of transport options and is much cheaper than staying in Venice itself. There are many shops, parks, restaurants that are not as expensive as Venice.

5min from from Mestre station, really easy to get into Venice from there, very friendly staff, very clean room, comfy bed and own bathroom, they even had a clean shared kitchen to prep food. Staff were very friendly helping us with travel & ticket queries on our first day. The area felt generally very safe, but we went back to the hotel around 22:30h. Great coffee shop (Coffee Break) just around the corner for breakfast. Can't fault this place, it is great value for money - grazie mille!
Good location for getting in and out of Venice and seeing Mestre with an easy to catch bus just yards away from the hotel.
Lots to do locally, including cafes and restaurants so if you need to eat local you can do easily.
Staff were all very friendly , included breakfast was nice and lots of choice.
Room was clean, spacious and Aircon kept it nicely cool.
Will happily recommend to friends when they're visiting Venice.
This is definitely a good option for a reasonably-priced stay during a visit to Venice. Train connections to Venezia St. Lucia (main city of Venice) are extremely reliable, cheap and frequent, and this property is just a 5-7 min walk from Venezia Mestre station. The common lobby area and cafe at the entrance are great with a lot of space for hanging out or getting some work done.
Efficiency and cleanliness of the rooms The staff was particularly helpful and welcoming. The location is extremely close to the Venezia Mestres train station, which means you don't lose time getting to Venice proper.
The location is really good. It’s about 2mins walk from the Venezia Mestre station. It’s really easy to get into the bus to Venice. The accommodation is not noisy as said in those other comments.
